First dyno- 331WHP/ 385WTQ SAE Dynojet

Hi guys! wanted to share my first F10 dyno experience.

Went with a few coworkers and I went first. In the rush, I made the mistake of telling the dyno operator to dyno it on 4th, rather than 5th (don't ask... I guess I was so used to dyno in 4th gear from back when I used to tune cars 10-15 yrs ago when the cars I tuned didn't have 8 gears ). Additionally, I noticed after the fact that the dyno operator was starting the pulls almost mid-3000s, which meant by the time the turbo spooled it was kinda late in the TQ curve. NOTE- dyno was conducted in Roller Test mode. Car was fully warm and heatsoaked even for the first pull (it was parked maybe 10 mins before it got pulled on to the roller).

Looking at the graphs, I don't think there was much more HP to be gained. But I feel due to the gearing and when the pulls began, there was torque left on the table.

I feel that the logs are nice and healthy! IATs started at 102* on a 96* afternoon and at redline it was down to 100*. If anyone wants proof of the effectiveness of the "cheap" GPlus IC, here it is! Runfile dont lie!

Timing seems happy, boost seems as reasonably close to target boost as the majority of healthy PWG turbos get. AFR looks good. Ignition correction was minimal, and the HPFP seemed plenty happy. Albeit- this is all in 4th gear. We are still to see what 5th gear load will do. I'll do this the next time around.

For reference, these are my powertrain mods at the time of this dyno:
- K&N panel filter in stock airbox
- GPlus FMIC
- BMS CP
- N20 NGK spark plugs (gapped to 0.022")
- Ebay Power House catless DP
- Megan Racing mufflers
- E30 fuel mix
- MHD Stage2+E30 flash tune
- Not a mod, but worth mentioning that the rear diff has fresh XO BMW fluid, and transmission has fresh LiquiMoly TopTec fluid. Both done within the last 4k miles.

Here's the 3 runs overlaid

Here's a video of one of the pulls

Here is the runfile for Run1

I see very few F10 N55 dynos. Everyone seems to go by what the mod seller claims but doesn't go dyno to back it up. Hence why I did this. Every car is different so it's worth seeing what your particular car is doing. I know F10 PWG run lower numbers than the F30 PWG for some reason. What do you guys think? Any tips or observations I may have missed or not clarified already? Thanks in advance!

BTW- Im not upset at the operator for starting the dyno so late. TYPICALLY on an auto, you want to start it right where he was in order to avoid a downshift. If anything it was my fault for not clarifying to him that a kickdown won't happen whilst in roller mode. So that was another lesson for me to apply next time

Nice to see early F10 N55 dynos on stock turbos. Wondering what it would be with 93 gas.

Wow, I'll be honest. Maybe I missed something, but I would have thought a 535i with all those mods would make more power...

It's a valid point Amoo. And I felt/ feel the same way. But I know that F30 N55s always dyno higher number than the equivalent F10 for some reason (and I think 97% of all N55 dyno data is from the more popular F30 platform), PWG (mine) do lower numbers than EWG, and early F10 N55s (my 2011) run a "carry over almost" E-Chassis DME so the software may not be as efficient as that of the 2012+ F10 N55s. Engine is in perfect health and all that jazz. But I can't yet draw a solid conclusion from this as 1- I dyno'd in the wrong gear, and 2- the operator was starting the runs too late.

All I can do at this point in look for consistency in the graphs (yes), and that the log doesn't have any red flags to indicate a problem (all looks good). So next time I dyno I'll be sure to correct my errors to get REAL numbers (whatever they may be lol). I'm doing this for my curiosity but also because it's rare for F10 owners to do it. I think we should have more information like this available to us.

More testing coming soon!

At least one benefit of the early N55s is the HPFP is the same as the N54, so with a mild Pure Stage 1 turbo, we can get more power without upgrading for fuel.

That's cool, always nice to see people posting real figures instead of guestimates.

Have you taken the car down the track or tried dragy to see how it performs?

I lined up against a buddy with a golf R. His mods are lighter wheels/tires apr stage 2
Down pipes and exhaust
My mods just jb4 (map 1) and eR charge pipe

And I got dusted! I think he had me by a quarter mile I was in sport+ mode also.

A lot of guys test him on the highway. And I think he had yet to be beat. WRX no match
Even took a Nissan GT-R.

The f10 is such a heavy car. Would need like 600 hp/torque to compete. But yet the car feels very athletic as is.

Golf R with Stage 2 are no joke, especially from a Stop. A lot of GTI guys get the IS38 turbos that coems on the R and are easily in 11s. You will need at least a 550i with a tune to keep up with a Stage 2 R.

fo sho!

1/4mi numbers are coming later this month or October. All depends on weather and if we can get our group from work to all go. But yes I intend to see what this yacht can do there, and will likely dyno- with my lessons learned taken into account, before that. Just to get some final numbers
