Connected drive activation.

Hello.

Just bought my 2013 550i (vin DX81169). I started to set up the BMW apps and connected drive, and got all the way through the process where the app sends the vehicle a verification code. The app tells me to check the iDrive menu connected drive > messages for the code. Well I have looked through every menu and can not find messages or the code.

Any ideas?

It can take a while to get the code. Also, without an active ConnectedDrive subscription the app won't work. I found that out with our 2012.

I may take it in. I also found out that this car came with the 2g combox and BMW no longer offers this service with 2g. It had to have been upgraded and I don't think mine has.

No real loss, just would have been nice.

As the second owner I had the upgrade done as it was free. I'm not about to pay the $200 for the subscription (it's my wife's car and she has a "dumb" phone) but I figured the next owner would appreciate having it done.

Just to verify, I do NOT have a subscription and CAN use the APPS through my iPhone 6s+.

The apps do appear and the ones I’ve tried do work. It just would have been nice to be able to use the rest of the features. Aggreed though, I’m not spending 200 a year to be able to unlock my car from my phone.

I have the exact same issue with my newly acquired 2013 535i. When I called the ConnectedDrive support, they said my vehicle had been upgraded (no 2G) and asked for proof (DMV registration) that I am now the new owner of this vehicle. I've sent them an email with a scan of my temp registration today and I'm awaiting for their response...
