Navigation voice guidance from mobile phone
Hi,
I have a 5-series (2016, F11) with factory bluetooth. It works perfectly fine when I stream music over bluetooth from my iPhoneX. However, one thing bothers me a lot is the voice guidance from navigation app on the phone: 1. If I already have music streaming (from any music app) via bluetooth to the car, navigation app works also fine - music volume is lowered and voice guidance is heard from car speaker 2. However, if I don't have music streaming in background and only let navigation app running, then there will be no voice guidance at all - neither from phone speaker nor from car speaker I have made sure I selected the proper media source and bluetooth was connected (as I could wake up siri using steering wheel). I have also updated car's firmware to latest and it did not help. I have tested several different navigation apps (google maps, waze, tomtom, here maps), too, and all had the same problem. Did anyone experience similar issue before? Any solutions? Thanks |

I've personally always set Google Maps and Waze to always use the phone speakers for navigation versus using bluetooth audio. I tend to use satellite radio a lot, so I didn't want to have to set my media to bluetooth just to hear navigation via the car's sound system.

Thanks for the suggestion.
Using phone speaker is surely an option, but getting car speakers working would be even better for me as sometimes I find it difficult to hear the phone clearly while driving. |

In Google Maps you can set it up to Play as Bluetooth phone call. It will then interrupt your music as if a call was coming. A little irritating for me, and sound quality is much worse than the audio streaming, but might work for you.
