BMW Navigation on 2011 F10 is worthless
i am on a roadtrip from Miami to Hiawassee in Georgia, and found out that the navigation on my 550i is worthless, it does not find anything, it makes me drive around wasting time, I have to rely on my iphone an google maps, BMW really screwed up this time, they should fix this, can not believe how bad this navi is.

Sorry about your misfortune. My experience is different. I have used mine on at least a dozen trips, including Hilton Head, SC without issue. Are you inputting a specific address or a POI? Anyway, after driving Acura and Lexus, my opinion is that it is on parity with those systems. Is it possible that you have corrupted data and/or need to update the software? The system is simply not that bad...

Yes, I was thinking the same thing too. Never any problems. Even found the most obscure and remote small hotels in the Italian countryside on my vacation last week. Last edited by Touring; 07-07-2012 at 10:26 AM.. |

I've never had problems with mine. I've even used the alternative route opens in traffic and it's great. I did spend some good time playing with it to get more familiar with...especially with the voice command options.

I've ever had problems with it either.

Same here - no major issues - just a big gripe is the lack of the current street name when on the regular map.

I also have zero issues with the navigation and anything I cannot find is compensated for by the amazing concierge service.
I wonder if people who gripe about this navigation system ever had to deal with the old CCC based nav. Now THAT was worth complaining about. This system is a dream comparatively. |

Well, it's not perfect, but I like it overall...Spend some more time with it, you might change your opinion later.

It misses many locations for me, and has taken me to the wrong location on several occasions. Also, it will sometimes randomly verbally instruct to turn in the wrong direction. It is not nearly as good as my 6 year old Garmin Nuvi 660, and to me that's sad. I expected more.
It looks great on the big screen, but the performance is lacking. It isn't useless, but it is not befitting of a 65K luxury sedan. |

Specifics:
It was great driving in Germany and Sweden, never missed anything. In the US, a different story, I don't mind the interface, but the problem is inaccuracy with the maps or something. 1-On two occasions, I selected a restaurant from POI and tries to take me there going through private residences that have security gate, maybe some of the private developments roads are mapped as public roads. 2-Also selecting from POI, from attractions, it misses half the time. 3-Verbal instructions are also sometimes wrong, example, bear right, prepare to follow route 91 south, and right after, bear right, prepare to follow route 285 south, etc. weird. It works most of the time, but too many misses, and I cannot trust it anymore, I have wasted a lot of time. Definitely this is an inferior navigation system, not what you expect from any car, especially from BMW. Check this thread out, I am not the only one who thinks tnis navi sucks http://bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=631898 Last edited by paulbazo; 07-10-2012 at 09:17 PM.. |

This is a timely thread... Just got back from 4th of July roadie and adventure in Michigan (from Chicago) and the nav in my F10 was great. My wife constantly uses her iPhone and at times they contradicted each other but alot of the time it was that the BMW nav was being overly precise... Like saying to go left in 1 mile (iPhone would say stay on US 20 for 4 more miles) but at that mile point there would be a split... And it was just saying stay left. It's also super badass with a split screen going and the lion king playing for the kids because of DVDinmotion. Righteous!

Navigation
I agree with Navigation problems. I live in a college town, which is around 15 mile radius. My BMW navigation will ask me to go around to a place near by.... to reach a gas station 1 mile away, it will give me route which 10 miles. ridiculous. my old 2007 lexus is better than my 2012 BMW F 10

This happened to me me as well until I remembered to change the route options. The NAV always stays on the last option you've selected. More details - see attached screenshot or your user manual |

No, it isn't. Maybe yours is where you drive. But in Europe it works flawlessly. I honestly don't think car dealers deserve to be in the "point of interest" at all, so no complaints. I actually find that statement to say more about you, than the Navi.

Also using the MyBMW remote app for IOS is great... as it has a built in google maps interface that will allow you to send a destination to the car just like you would be able to on a desktop brower on maps.google.com.

Or this nonsense (I can't even figure out how I would do this. Is it a u-turn?) This one takes the cake: |
