Does anybody know what the protocol is if I paid for this repair due to my bolts shearing off on my vanos unit if there is a possibility of getting reimbursed?

I did read somewhere that you could reimburse if you have paid earlier for the same issue mentioned in recall ... good luck..

Thanks this was such a headache it happened almost a year ago it was 170 miles out of warranty I spoke with customer relations and they wouldn't help me out, I even wrote a letter to president of bmw never got a response. Repair cost was $2600 it was the worst.

Wow. That sucks! What year F10 do you have! I emailed my service advisor with the bulletin. We will see

I'd try BMW again. I'm shocked they refused you at 170 miles over.

I had a 2011 I just traded it for a lexus gs350 last week, because I got another drivetrain malfunction warning and didn't want to deal with any more repairs

In any event ... you paid for something that was now identified as a recall ... you are entitled to 100% compensation ... pursue this with BMW, and get your $2k+ back!
