2011 530 GT SE ball joints - wearing normal?

Hi Chaps,

Wondered if anyone could shed any light on this? My Dad is considering a 530GT and the one he's looking at seems to have had it's ball joints replaced due to an MOT failure in the mid 40k miles range.

Is this a normal thing or is it likely that either manufacture defect on the ball joint or possibly suspension damage ?

Thanks in advance!

Rob
