The power output isnt enough to charge modern phones at all, you will need an adapter. Mine does the same. Read on another post the standard usb output 500mA.

Maybe a cigarette USB adapter might be a better deal.

That will be your best option, some of them you buy online promise certain outputs. Read reviews before buying one, seen to many reviews talking about how bad some were.

My iPhone 6s+ charges through the console USB just fine. No slowness at all, even with the phone using data. My iPad is a different story. With that i need the 12V USB charger.

I found my console port charging pretty slow also. I got a lighter socket USB charger instead. The console port was better than nothing, but far from fast.

Standard USB spec is 0.5A and that's probably exactly what it is. My lighter socket charger is 2.4A.

My F10 is 2011 with S677A Hifi and S6FLA USB. Different years or options could have different speccs.

Mine is slow as well to charge my 7 plus. If I'm using it while charging I often see the battery decrease even. I just use an adapter

The USB port only puts out 500ma, which will basically keep your current charge if you are using an app that turns on your phone's display. If your display is off, you will get a charge, albeit a slow one. Your best option is to use a phone charger.

While streaming Amazon or Pandora I get about 1 percent of charge for every minute my iPhone is plugged-in.

0.5A is the standard USB spec, and that's what it's doing. You're probably best to use a cig socket charger device.

Oh, I don't mind. I need to have the phone plugged-in to utilize the APPS anyway. I keep toying with the idea of getting the snap-in adapter to utilize the car's antenna for the phone but just can't see spending $300! If the price comes down enough I still might purchase it. It's easy keeping my phone charged being retired! It's amazing how small one's world gets when retired. Were it not for church, errands and the occasional social function we probably wouldn't get out much. My wife drives around 2500 miles a year! I have driven 3K miles per MONTH!! Might even be the same for those that work from home.

My Motorola Z2 Force charges really slow on that port. My wife's IPhone X charges normally. The USB standard allows the device to know what is trying to use it by the resistance on the 2 data lines. Apple products have a way of knowing the max current of the USB outlet and optimizing their charging for that source. This is how apple stopped 3rd party chargers for awhile.

You dont need to spend $300. Just buy cheap powered usb hub. 5v/3a does the trick. You also get extra usb sockets
