2015 520d sluggish / engine braking in low revs
Pre-owned 2015 520d, auto transmission (I assume they all are) - have owned it since November.
In the last month or so it has developed a behaviour that when I am at low gear / low speeds (think equivalent of 2nd/3rd gear), the car doesn't coast particularly well when I take my foot off the accelerator; it feels almost like it's engine braking and there is a noticeable decrease in speed that feels more abrupt than what I would expect. I don't know if it's coincidence that this has started happening around the same time as the cold weather has set in. Prior to this I was driving a 2L manual transmission Toyota estate with not particularly amazing engine, but it sure coasts a lot better than the 520d seems to. Any ideas? |

It could be related to your car battery being under 80% capacity. our cars have IBS (intelligent battery sensor) which engages battery charging if it goes under 80% of charge state, i believe.
Not sure if i described it all correctly but you can search online for BMW IBS and EfficientDynamics. My car does the same especially if it sits for few days without driving. Last edited by OrcaPod; 02-07-2019 at 08:53 AM.. |
