I believe having a digital HUD takes away from the driving experience, it's cool looking but you're taking things, even if small, that make a car a car. But that's just me. |

I feel like this is a step backwards. I actually really like the physical gauges, my gf's aunt has a s600 and it has this display. I hate the S-class, so im disappointed BMW has decided to copy their deal. I suppose this is just the way of 'progress' however.

A lot of companies have done something similar with digital speed display and it's really ugly...We want to see and feel the real things about the engine, the rpm and speed, ans also temperature...

I do prefer the original needle gauges, so much less to go wrong. If this is gonna happen, they better let us be able to fully customize the information shown and a whole bunch of other stuff (either way this will be a fairly easy task for programmers).
Wouldn't BMW use newer OLED screens instead though? Cost could be an issue but those screens are gorgeous |

As much as I think I like the full black panel display, I'm not liking the lack of needles here. At least, not yet. I'll have to see this in person but I'm going in with a very skeptical view of this.

This is awesome. When off, i bet you can't even tell there is anything even there. Once you press the start button...bling! The coolest feature to me is the customizability aspect. Think about once its out on the market. I'm bet someone will start hacking the new system, as i'm sure BMW will be modest in the amount of user customizable options. The possibilities are endless.
I think it would be even classier if they retained the needles, and just made the numbers and backgrounds into LCD. Now THAT would be sick. Now if only they'd come out with this for the 3 series...

They should have made them a number read-out Honda Civic style.
They keep throwing in pointless technology no one is asking for.

Well if it crashes as often as my computer, laptop, iPhone or any other electronic device I own, then we'll all be in trouble.

Not a fan of LCD gauges. Unless it's something like the Lexus LFA's.

No, please BMW, don't do that!!!! We want cars not psp, playstation3 & stuff like this.
You'll see, you will regret the REAL cars and all these new gadgets are getting us into an artificial world. |
