Gold caliper paint results

I spent HOURS looking for a gold caliper paint that wasn't as brown as G2, or as green as other brands I've seen. I was looking for gold-bar gold that really popped. I settled on VHT SP404 Engine Metallic Gold Flake paint. I used a high temp primer, then the gold paint, then high heat clear coat. This is by far the best looking gold caliper paint I've found that doesn't come from the factory, the pictures don't do it justice. Anyway, I wanted to document this to save you some time.

It came out great! That shade of gold also looks really good against the dark blue of the car

Very interested in how these hold up. In my experience, VHT's paint is very brittle and likes to flake at the slightest impact.

Yeah... it does tend to flake off from what I've seen when hit... but it does sure look hot right now!!!

Thanks! They used to be red, but every Mustang and Charger out here has red so I decided to step it up. It's tough to match caliper colors to blue cars though.

I'm worried about this too, especially coming from G2's 2-part system that forms a shell around the caliper. I spent a lot of time prepping and used multiple coats of primer, gold, and clear so I hope it has some resilience.

i did this about 5 years ago and the G2 Caliper Paint Gold been hold strong to this day! the most important thing to do is the prep has to be done right or it's not gonna last. the VHT is garbage as it flakes just after 2 years. here's some pictures of when it was done and what it looks like now

here they are just over 2 years ago when i upgraded to my custom CQUENCE brake rotors and Goodridge stainless lines. still looking brand new!

Let me say I shouldn't say garbage but it's not a very good product as there's alot of reviews with the same issue...flakes and peels almost with 2 years

Yup, many hours. Prep, prime, base, and clear. I did the same, using the same brand paint products. In addition, I painted the dust shields in satin black. Also, upgraded rotors and replaced pads. It should hold up for years. Looks fantastic! Great job!

Those look really good on there. I wanna do mine but I’m so busy with work.

And to top that I have my own complete powder coat setup and have done over 50 caliper sets for everyone else over the years. Never time for my own stuff though.

Thanks. The only M badges are on the wheels and I don't want to rip them off. I bought the caliper logos from eBay, but just checked and the seller (emblemshop) closed his account. I searched "bmw vinyl caliper decal" to find them.

I may have found a seller but the sizes on their eBay page is not readable. I contacted them to see if they can proved readable sizes. https://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-Vinyl-D...-127632-2357-0
