my top mount turbo on BMW 5 series

wanted to share this with everyone...
2013 535i x-drive
62/62 vs racing turbo
custom top mount manifold "log style"
525 walbro with EKPM
spool 150fx
xhp
mishimoto 4" core intercooler (in-between the bumper and the radiator)
18-22lbs of boost
the car is a blast to drive, tuned by Chris at motiv motorsport on e32 with map switching and anti-lag. just made the 3in downpipe to 3.5in back exhaust, kind of sounds like a cummings lol. if anyone has any questions i would love to answer them.

Sweet man!!! Where did you get the manifold? I'd love to see more pics. Any ignition upgrades? And any dyno numbers?

the manifold was made with 1 1/2" schedule 10 pipe runners into a 2" sched 10 log. the flange is from vargas racing. I forgot to mention im running boost juice, no dyno numbers just draggy times, i should be able to run a high 10 sec 1/4 mile. my best time so far is 11.17 at 126mph, 1.85 60ft. that was leaving on about 4lbs of boost, next run ill spool it up more. DA-1743. im using the Eldor 12138657273 coil packs with 2 step colder plugs gapped to .022" Name: IMG_9510.jpg

hear are some more pics, its a tight fit getting the 3" downpipe in there but with some pie cuts the 3" pipe works nice. I cant find any pics of the external gate but its a 44mm vs wastegate placed by the last exhaust port and it is pointed down. Once I get everything prefect I plan on selling it and buying a g30 and doing the same thing. ill have to post a log here soon.

Awesome, and living on the edge. What's your fueling hardware configuration? Upgraded fuel module?

Def keep those updates coming.

Also curious as to the MAF situation. Was it deleted and you're just tuning off of MAPs before and after the TB? I say that because it looks like you run open turbo

yes, tuning by Chris at Motiv, open turbo because i can not fit a filter on it. It was a last minute decision to put the turbo right there as i was originally going to have it sideways with the exhaust going out the fender.

I should really get revisions as this tune was originally from when the turbo was a bottom mount. this is from a 60roll using anti-lag, its a little tricky when roll racing but it sure does throw me back in my seat! I could think i could get away with 24lbs of boost looking at the rail pressure.
There is an import shop near me who has an awd dyno that I plan on going to once lose ends are cleaned up. Its a mustang dyno so hopefully it makes 250 whp!

Perhaps! this was a different setup as you mentioned and you won't know until you do a log on the current layout. But if it's anything like this log then hell yes To be on such a high load gear like 5th gear, at 6300rpm the DME is targeting 2900psi and the pump is putting out 2997psi, that is a very healthy pump!

Was this on straight fuel ?

So what are your thoughts on the quality of that VS racing turbo? I see a lot of turbo LS guys running these turbos. Would you recommend?

YES! a lot of diesel guys arounds me are running them making big power numbers, they hold up well considering the abuse they put them through. the only thing i can see wrong with them is my iat are going pretty high during pulls. this is most likely due to the .82 turbine housing, should have gone with a bigger one but i was afraid that i would not be able to make much boost when launching the car.
