520D F11 Transmission noise on acceleration

Hello, hope I'm posting in the right place; new here!

Just bought a 520D F11 manual with 48k on the clock (built Dec 10), which is my first bimmer. I've noticed that under acceleration there is subtle noise eminating from the gear stick, presumably through the transmission.

I can only describe it as a 'muted metalic burble'.

It's only present on throttle, and only when gears are engaged. Present in all gears. It doesn't seem to affect the vibration felt on the stick. It isn't particually loud and doesn't sound like something is about the imminently fail, but it's there.

Is this normal for a 520D? I know it's not the most refined engine choice and you all probably prefer the 6 pot options, but it was in budget in seemingly in excelent condition! I probably have 'just bought a used car paranoia', but thought I ask here.
