Cutting coils
So I recently purchased a 2011 528i with sport package. Plan to lower on h&r sport spring and cut 1/2 coil for little more drop without coilovers. Seen a couple threads and read, but looking for any additional feedback.

Back in my youth when I was able to purchase my very first, brand spanking new Mercedes Benz, guess what I did. I had it lowered with a Cup Kit. It wasn't low enough so I did what you're considering now. It did the job of giving my car that extra drop, slammed look. But boy did it kill the suspension! The ride became very bouncy...I regretted it soon after.

Doesn't sound like a good idea.

If you can afford an F10, you can afford to do proper suspension modifications. Cutting the coil will screw up the spring rate that the spring was designed for and you will end up with a crappy ride. Unless you are only concerned with looks and not handling ability or comfort??????

Thank you guys! Why go cheap on this. Coilovers it is.
I used KW V1 on E90 wagon and very happy. I believe the same kit is available for my F10 with EDC. |
