Definitely keep at it then. But the glass style clay may be fairly “soft”. If it’s becoming black then it’s pulling the contamination off. Just have to work it down little by little.

I’m not particularly to any specific company, especially for clay bars for such a rough purpose. Any “rough” or “aggressive” style clay bar should do. I’d be tempted to get the Amazon special “aggressive” clay if you just plan on using by the car for the wheels.

For paint on the car’s body I’d be a bit more partial though. Griots or Chemical Guys are ones I’d trust for that purpose.

Replaced the parking brake button with a cheapie form Ebay. FYI there is a different one for pre and post 2014 cars. Tried to do the auto hold button as well, but just couldn't get it off without an in-depth disassembly.

Do you happen to have the link? I just noticed mine is starting to look a bit beat up. If it’s a cheap and easy fix it’s a no brainer.

Oh yeah, definitely easy! Just popped out with a small screwdriver.

Here's the 2011-14 type with the longer legs: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09KBRN5BS?

And here is the 15 & 16 style: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B747KTP3

This is the best instruction for doing it the proper way (I just popped the tab out):

While the front end is partially disassembled and I'm waiting for a radiator to be delivered (Don't go on strike today, Brown Santa!), I figured I'd get into the headlight/body seals that have been disintegrating over the last year. Every piece of rubber on this car is turning to goo, it pisses me off. Anyway, you can't replace these seals without pulling the lights, and there is a lot of disassembly in that process. I ended up not having to pull the wheels or remove the whole bumper, just loosen it and the fender liners. Lights came out easy, and the seals fit into place no drama. Haven't put it all back together, but fingers crossed it all fits as intended!!!

Here's a good video for light removal (doesn't embed, but worth clicking through if you need the info):

And rounding out the trifecta of fun, the Nissens radiator came in today round noon. Worked till dusk, and I think I have the radiator all buttoned up. Did a purge and then ran it for 15 min... no leaks so far! Will check again tomorrow morning and do a road test before the Mrs. heads out to PHX. I'm thoughtful like that.

This is one of the few videos that shows the F10 radiator replacement. Had to improvise a few things for the N52 car, but 90% was as shown:

Fixed the in-op passenger side comfort access door handle. Super easy...when you don't drop the torx bit inside the door.

Decided to take apart the new handle to re-use the original skin and LED so it still matched.

New glass day! Caught some debris that cracked the windshield while driving out to PHX last week. We found a REALLY good installer that fixed up perfectly! Now our auto lights and rain sensor are even working properly! Whoever the previous owner used for the glass just suuuuucked. Scottsdale Auto Glass (shout out) did a great job. They couldn't source Pilkington, but used best runner up Fuyao. Happy customers!

Hey Double Nickel, it's possible you have already answered this but may I ask (again) where you picked up your front splitter and are there any gaps between it and your OEM 535i body? It looks good from the photo.

Hit the track for the first time at Dominion Raceway. Was a beginner level event with no passing, but still had a blast. Learned a lot about really pushing the car and learning to trust my brakes and digging deeper into them. Overall, the car did very good for what it is, and never really complained. KW's did really well, car felt super planted through the corners and connected.

A baffled oil pan is definitely in the future if I want to do this more often for peace of mind.

For $100, it's a really solid experience! 3 sessions of 15 minutes.
