New Brakes DYI?

Hey Guys,
I got different quotes from different places regarding new brakes.

Brake sensor came up and its time to replace them.

everyone is charging over 1200 dls for brakes, includes new rotors, pads, sensors.

I can get the full set for about 400dls , how difficult is it for me to do this job on my 2015 535i m sport. ?

Not hard. If you've done brakes before you'll be fine. If not, I'm not sure what to tell you. They only come apart and go together one way, so as long as you have the right tools and are mechanically inclined you should be fine.

Tip: get the BimmerLink app. It allows you to put the rear brake calipers into Service mode which backs off the parking brake actuators. Without that you'll have to remove the actuators and wind them back by hand. Not impossible, but worth avoiding for the cost of the app.

Brakes are some of the easiest to do but you do have to have the right tools (a nice 3 ton jack, good solid jack stands, a nice set of metric tools, gloves and rags, and torque wrenches). If you don't already have them, I'd recommend using a mobile mechanic, or a shop. But if you have the equipment, it's a piece of cake. If you instead were to invest $400 in just getting the tools/jack/stands etc, they will pay for themselves in the long run with savings on other small jobs that dealer would want a ton of money for.

Thank you for the advice,
getting Bimmerlink now...

And yes I wouldn't mind investing in extra tools for other projects...

There are a TON of DIY videos on YT as well. I highly recommend checking out a few, that'll show you exactly what you're getting into.

Good luck!
