Is it recommended or an issue to use water wetter in the N63TU Turbo coolant system to help manage the heat?

I’m in the desert heat and anything to help manage heat for my F10 550i is a plus.

There is a Thread about a Low temp Thermostat. Check it out!

They have a separate cooling system for the intercoolers but im not sure If it runs a t-stat like the main cooling system. It definitely runs after the cars turned off when hot. I would think that water wetter would help with the cooling but mabey someone more knowledgeable can chime in.

I believe the they share the same heat exchanger in front, so lower engine coolant temperatures should net a slightly lower intercooler coolant temperature.

What is current coolant dilution ratio. Anti freeze make the engine run warmer.

Always been 50/50, as far as I know.

What is your Opinion on this ladies and gents? I saw this video For the N63, this does make some real sense here in many ways. On the Topic of Coolant and lowering Engine temp.

Great video!! Just a Fyi...Serg at N63intakes stocks both the oil cooler & the thermostat.. When I used to race sport bikes they would only let us use waterwetter & water in the cooling system. We would push those bikes to the boiling point sometimes here in Az with no.issues, so I assume adding a little in our system wouldn't hurt..The Oil cooler valve is a must in my opinion for these hot temps in Az..

Depends on what part of the country you are. Colder climate areas car can have 60/40 ratio to protect engine during winters. I think OP owner is southern Texas and he can help himself by reducing anti freeze and add more water......

Yea I think it's important to remember that for 99% of us these are fun cars, but still daily drivers. Running water and water wetter is a great combo if you live somewhere where there is never any freezing temperatures, but if you plan on ever doing a road trip to somewhere cold, it would be a pain to have to drain the water and add antifeeze, rather than just hop in your car and go. So take your usecase into account!

I have seen Water Wetter react with BMW coolant (the blue G48 variety) to form a brown, greasy sludgy deposits. (The entire volume of coolant didn't turn to sludge, but this weird stuff showed up all over)

So, there's that.

I used to drive circle track racecars and the reason we ran straight water and water wetter was that it was difficult to clean up antifreeze coolant off of the track. I guess the chemicals in the antifreeze bind with the track surface. It's what we were told.

While I haven't personally seen that myself, BMW's official stance is that additives are not to be used, so you'd be up shits creek without a paddle if the coolant sludge fucks up your car and you used additives.

I'm unsure about the binding, but I know antifreeze/water mixtures are extremely slippery, and so would be a far larger hazard compared to water.
