Reverse Camera F10 2013 face lift
Hi all, first post therefore let me know if I've posted this in the wrong section.
Picked up an F10 over the weekend. Coming from a Lexus, I love everything about the BM however there's one thing I miss. The reverse camera. Just picked up a reverse camera off ebay which I'm planning to fit myself. Here's a link to the one I bought. Unfortunately I only have the small 6.5" inch business screen but the one purchased should be compatible. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F173239649513 Anyway, Attempting to fit this over the weekend. Just wondered if anyone has retrofitted on a 2013 facelift? Planning to go down the passanger side. Hoping there may be some advice from fellow UK F10 owners Thanks |

I'll be doing the same job on my newly-acquired F11 (2013 pre facelift small nav screen) at some stage soon, so I'll be watching this one.
In my case though I'll be routing the cables through at roof level & bringing them down the passenger side a-pillar - only because mine is an estate. From the pictures it looks like they use an adapter loom, which means the unit shouldn't need coding. Keep us posted please.

Good luck with it. This and folding mirrors are crucial options for the F10/F11 in my view.

and its all complete...
So, after a long 4 hours, I'm glad to report back that I've successfully completed the retrofit of the reverse camera.
I used the youtube vid from Bimmertech as a guide but of course, mine is a right hand drive. I'm not going to go into the detail as the video explains it better than I can. I started by disconnecting the battery, taking the nav unit out (went from front of the car to the back), connected the navigation plugs (all seemed pretty simple), ran the camera wire under the carpet (passenger footwell) down the passenger side, then followed it all the way to the rear passenger side. Hit a bit of an obstacle here. Had to remove the rear seats (not too difficult, just struggled around the seatbelt fasteners). managed to find a gap to feed into the boot. Hid behind carpeting in the boot and followed the steps in the vid. Put everything back together, connected the battery. The above probably took 3 hours as I was being extremely careful and babysitting my 18 month old. When I started the car, all seemed well except the clock seemed incorrect. My bluetooth and USB port didnt work either. Got onto the seller (Douglas) on ebay to see if I missed anything. helpful guy responded with 5 mins and told me exactly what I had to do. Turns out I didnt take the optical cable out of the original (main) stereo plug and attach this to the new plug (2 green wires on a clip) Back in the car I went, disconnected the battery. This time, took all but 5 mins to get the nav unit out, fixed the optical cable, put it all together again. Went to connect the battery and.... oh sh!t! I only went and closed the boot. The car has no power and there was no way to open the boot as the opening is an electric button!. Had to get some jumpleads and another car to get enough power (from under the bonnet) to open the boot. Finally, having connected the battery, I tested the Bluetooth, usb..... all working perfectly! let me know if anyone has any questions I'll post some random pics in a bit |

I thought Euro 6 vehicles were exempt? What has changed?

@fox530 you're right. With more details surfacing, it seems as though the Euro 6 vehicle is ok for now (even for the 2021 plans).
However that t@#t of a mayor is coming down hard on cars and he's got it in for Deisels. It wouldn't surprise me if he comes up with somthing else. |

Did you actually realise that the emissions in London waayyyyy past the legal limits. It is the Mayor's job to go hard on emissions least because we all have a right to live and not die prematurely.

At no point did I mention emissions in London being at a good level. I'm fully aware of the dangers and would agree that these levels need to come down. Heck, that's why I went for a Euro 6 in the first place.
SK is as usual, going for the softer target of your everyday motorist and then you get muppets that think he's doing a good job. Seen as you're now my new source of information, here's a few questions What % do diesel family vehicles contribute to London's NO2? What is the mayor doing to help those with older diesel vehicles off the road? What's the biggest cause NO2 in our city? My house boiler gives off smoke. Should the mayor take action there? Are renewables (like wood chip) encouraged by our government a good thing? Those wood burners look really cool. Are they good for the environment? How many of the 2 million trees that SK pledged has he actually planted? I've got 2 young kids. I tell you what worries me more about London than the NO2. The violence on our streets. He's certainly not doing enough on that front! Last edited by Kingkajee; 07-31-2018 at 02:56 PM.. |

Sorry to wind you up like that but given that its a car forum so I was focused on car emissions... Like it that you actually give a toss about environment... Slowly but surely the overall air quality will improve, drivers have and will always be a soft target
Also, the police chief says we have less bobbies on the beat so there's that but I don't understand enough about the whole situation to have a view. |
