I have a 2014 535I XDRIVE while I was driving home from my girlfriends house , car shut down and drivetrain malfunction message came on. My fault ran vehicle low on fuel had 40 miles on DTE display. I put fuel in the vehicle and it starts fine no more drivetrain malfunction message. The light now on my dash says steering effort increased but steering feels normal. No faults when i checked either

If you’re seeing a drivetrain malfunction, there’s a fault stored. What are you using to scan the car and clear codes? You need to have something that can read BMW specific trouble codes, not just a generic OBDII reader. Something like a handheld scanner with BMW codes loaded or a full software system such as ISTA.
