Steering rack

Hi, I hear knocking on bumps and I think it will be in the steering. Is it possible to get a repair kit for the F10? All I see everywhere are repair kits for the F20, F30 etc. Why isn't this available for the F10?

I would like yo to know as well. I have looked everywhere. I remember seeing a video on YouTube of someone working on an F10 for this same issue but I cannot find it.

Steering rack

Hi Torrman,

I’ve the same issue as you at exactly at this location of the steering rack but no repair kit or thrust piece available like you mentioned.

Have you solved your problem yet? If yes, do you mind sharing how it is done?

I’ve free play at my steering at any steering angle. From the steering column to the steering rack to the tie rods at both ends, none has free play at all. So it has to be the this same spot where the issue lies.

Mine’s a 2011 523i Highline. The free play on both ends at the steering is and 1.25 inches. Driving straight at high speed is very unsafe.

Appreciate any help or advise.
