I Can't Believe What My Wife Did To My 550i M Sport

Appreciate everybody's input. I had to vent so I could get over this asap and I have so all its forgotten and forgiven. I'm surprised about some of the member's interpretation regarding the original post and how some members act like they never got angry in their life. It was never about the money. Its about having your spouse listen to your recommendations once in a while. Yes mistakes do happen but you should still be held accountable for it now she says she double and triple check the blind spot with mirrors and back up camera before she backs up anywhere so this minor accident may have prevented her from having a major one in the future that will cost her more than dealing with a pissed off husband for a couple of days.

We have an extended driveway past our 2 car garage that is located in our basement. The extended driveway was put in to park my wife's Toyota Highlander and the garage was used for my E46 M3 Vert and F10 550i M sport. She usually backs straight out to the street from the spot. Our driveway is long and drops down from the street so she guns it to get a head start. There's also a retaining wall built to the side of the driveway between the neighbor's house and ours. Yesterday my wife left our house 5 minutes before I did so I figured she's gone. Got in my car opened the garage door and backed the 550i out toward the retaining wall I usually have to do a 3 point turn in order to clear the turn. On my end of the 3 point turn and was just about to head up the driveway I see in the corner of my left eye the end of my wife's Toyota Highlander coming straight at me pretty fast and BANG she crashed into the driver side passenger door.

I was just in shock and couldn't believe what she just did. My body just felt dumb and I just couldn't word what just happened. She managed to damage 2 vehicles at once. The worse part is the Highlander has back up camera that she doesn't use. At this moment I'm still shocked since the I only had the car just over a month. I got an estimate for a new door and its going to cost around $2k to fix but its just not the same as a new car to me anymore. I'm so pissed off to a point I want to kick her out of the house. Every time I pass by the 550i in the garage I just get more furious about it. Not going to fix the Highlander rear bumper to serve as a reminder to her everyday as she past by it what a lousy driver she is. I don't think I can ever forgive her for this one. After all the parking far away from cars at parking lot to avoid door dings/dents you get this from your own freaking wife.

Man that stinks. Sorry to hear about your car.

Ill be honest though, after reading your post, I think you need to readjust your feelings about this. Unless your wife maliciously backed into your car, you need to get over it. You seem to harbor more than just frustration and if its just b/c of this, thats your problem, not hers. Its $2k, which completely sucks, but she's your wife. At the end of the day/week/year, she's more important than your car.

Just an outside perspective. Take it as it is.

I hope you get it all worked out.

Yes I believed in thinking that way before but things have been rocky for a little while now and this may have been the last straw that broke the camel's back.

Glad everyone's ok, look on the bright side, at least it's not a hit and run.

Hopefully you work things out with your wife.

Just a car. You've got your health right?

I've actually heard of a similar situation on the e90 forum.

Don't really care about the $2k as much as the thought of patching up a brand new car already.

No drivetrain or chassis damage and no frame damage. This is about the best place you could have gotten hit. It sucks, but sh*t happens. Fix it, forgive your wife and move on. Life's too short to hold grudges.

Man sorry that happened. But in all honesty, I would feel the exact same way you did if that happened to me. I'm really anal with my F10 and my e46 M3. I know people say it's just a car but sometimes you can't help it but get pist when things like this happen, but of course, we get over it and calm down.

Again, hope things are good with you and your wife (of course your car as well)

This really sucks! I totally get your anger but looking at the tiny bright side: its amazing how the damage is contained within that one door frame, not an inch either way! This could have been much, much worse so I guess I'm just trying to make you feel better.

Not yet. It is still on the way to Taiwan. I will post some pics once I mount them to my F10.

I also feel sorry for your car but fortunately nobody is hurt. Just get the door replaced and it will look brand new again.

The last straw? Dude, it's going take you a lot more than $2k to break up with your wife.

The thing about accidents is that no one is immune from them, not even you.

In fact, I am not convinced you were blameless here. Did you take every reasonable precaution to make sure the coast was clear?

You have insurance. I am not sure how this works, but if your vehicle was not moving, the entire thing might be one incident, so you won't need an to pay an extra deductible to fix her car. I am sure some insurance professionals here can comment on this and clarify or correct me.

Most importantly, find the courage to apologize to your wife. The grass is always greener. You saw something in her the day you asked her to marry you...now turn your computer or smart phone off and go find it again.

Oh wait, someone here wants to talk to you.

Honey, it's me. Rules was just giving me dancing lessons, I swear. Anyway, stick your car up your arss you heartless piece of crap. Oh, and let me tell you something, I will tell you about the last straw. Your wee wee is a straw you bastard.

I can understand why you're very annoyed - that is just careless. Take the value of the cars out the equation, there is still a sentimental value as you've earned that fabulous car! Where is the respect?
The way you've written it, I assume you've asked her to slow down on the driveway before - but only you and her know that!
I mean, you should eventually forgive her - as the earlier posts say you have your health albeit 2k lighter. Won't the insurance cover this?
But yeah, can fully understand why you're totally pissed. A f**king reversing camera too!!! Stupidity really. An accident, but careless, silly and irresponsible.

Hope you can get your 550i fixed!

+1, I would say it's 60% the wife's fault and 40% RumbleJay's fault for "assuming" she's not there. She really needs to use that camera, as she could've hit a little kid or dog.

I'm also anal with my cars. I can't stand a car that's been fixed, even if I'm the only person that knows of the damage. However, $2k fix is a lot cheaper than a divorce settlement.

My wife would've made me park my cars outside, so she could hog the garage.
