Exclamation Engine stalled after going through a puddle of water

Folks .!

I went through s puddle of water while heavy raining conditions and my 2014 550i stalled and stopped , not sure what happens but the car won’t start I gave several hrs and tried again but won’t start . Battery is fine blowers works, no engine light or Malfunction function errors . The car cranks but it gives winning sound and turned off . Am worried and I called it to towed to mechanic . Not sure what went wrong , while accelerating the water came till the grill but the water level is only till my ankle . I thought I will make it but got caught .any help or suggestion .

Best case scenario is some electronics drowned. Worst case is the engine is hydro locked.

The dealer should be able to figure out what's wrong; but at a PRICE!

I would look for a very competent independent; preferably one that comes highly recommended from the BMW community.

Pull spark plugs and crank with out plugs installed to get any water out that it might have sucked up. The sooner the better.

I removed the air filter and checked it’s soaked in water . So I didn’t crank it . I called the dealer and mentioned it . He said he need to check and if possible change new engine .
But my question is even if they take the water out does this car a drivable or will it give the sand performance and smoothness like before ? Or selling us better?

If your engine hydro locked, which sounds like it did, trying to save it probably not cost effective. Remember water is not compressible so something else had to give, usually it's a rod or two that bends.

I went and checked the filter and it’s soaked wet . Next day I
Towed to bmw showroom , they manual cranked it , didn’t work . So they recommended new engine , and quoted 24k bill . Am not sure if the car is that worth or not … and I still have lien to it ..

Quick update on this : n3985 ezaircon4jc
Mechanic changed spark plugs , air filter , cleaned intake etc now the engine is running but heat pump needs to be replaced . Apart from that I don’t hear any knocking sound and I drive the engine harsh and it all went fine , my question is will the rod bearing is fine or it’s gone ? If one of the cylinders are bent will the car even run ? I asked my mechanic to take compression test for rod bearing and bent cylinder. If everything is fine is it worth to keep the car for longer run with extended warranty? Cause water went inside will it be a ticking time bomb.
