Love this thread
Here in Australia, a decent specced F10 520d sets us back around A$100k, that's around US$106k. My last car was an E90 M3 which was around US$175k. I love the F10 and would not debadge. In fact, we hardly see debadged cars here. Australians don't give a XXXX about what other people think we drive.

In Poland, I am sure theft for Russian customer. I have been through Poland many times and wouldn't probably bring my 550, I take my very unappealing van.

Isn't the exhaust a bit of a give away?

One less thing to catch the eye.
I have badges on my car and aftermarket exhaust. I was in southern rural france and the amount of gawkers around my car all last week was a bit annoying. I had people looking in my car windows with me IN it. I normally dont take trips in the car but my wife felt we had enough room with the new compact stroller (which we did!) that I wanted to take it. Dont regret it but in Poland, an F10 itself will stick out but the badges would just add to the bait.

I actually CAN afford a 550 even with the communistic tax-rate here in Norway. It's not about being able to afford it. It's about not wasting vast amounts of money down a drain, fueling leeches and parasites when I know a 520 will do just fine. |

Thefts are all around the world... I had expensive cars in the past and had no problems in Poland at all. |

If you follow news and live in Poland you would have to be blind to not have read about Polands being the key link to stolen cars from west to east. You should also know why this is.

The annoying thing for me is that i have a 520d and i want to go down the debadged route because its easier to clean and i think looks better but i dont want to actually look like im trying to conceal the fact that i have a 520d. I'm proud of it!

Who cares if you drive a 520D, the facts are simple, you are proud that you own a well engineered BMW....The 520D is great engine, i heard that they account for nearly 80% of sales of the F10 in the UK (of which 75% are probably de-badged !!)

As a dad who runs the kids to school in a 50km round trip TWICE a day - the 520d does the job perfectly. My M3 would drain the tank in under 400km whereas I get just over 1000km from the 520d - and that's in city driving! My biggest regret is not embracing diesel a long time ago!

The only reason, the ONLY reason, I own a 550i (with a hartge tune) is because I live within 2 miles of the autobahn. If I head north I can drive for over an hour of straight unrestricted. It has been an incredible experience for me. The minute I leave Germany will be the minute I no longer own a 550i. I personally think BMW's are incredible cars, whether the lowest mobile or the highest, all should be pleased to have the privelage to own such a vehicle.

You have no idea how envious I am!
You'd think in a vast country (Australia) the size of Western Europe we'd be allow to cover the long distances at speeds greater than 110kmh.
