trunk open with foot sweep not working 550i

The automatic trunk open by using foot is not working. Any ideas appreciated.

I never can get mine to work either, but my fiancee does it all the time. You night get someone else to try because I have never once gotten it to work.

Not trying to come across in a derogatory manner, just sharing my experience. Some days my level of retardation is way up there, lol.

Just in case this helps: When I picked up my F10 from the BMW dealer, the sales dude explained that you do the hokey pokey to get the trunk to open. No kidding! You put your right foot it, you put your right foot out ... it works every time. For me, it's not a sweep, but an in and out movement. Then again, you might have a bad sensor or someone replaced your diffuser with an aftermarket one that sometimes interferes with the sensor. I've read that carbon fibre diffusers can do that.

You need some trial and error to get it right. I had the same issue in the beginning but after several tries, I got it tight every time. Don't go in too deep when swinging your leg.

That's it. A sweep will rarely work, where the hokey-pokey move in the correct place (middle, with an inch or two of wiggle-room) will work, in my experience, at least 99% of the time.
