Need help understanding jb4 and how maps work for 2013 550i xdrive

Not too long ago I bought the BMS stage 1 tune and I've been recently looking to add some extra power to my 550i I just recently upgraded my spark plugs and coils just in case after actually getting a drivetrain malfunction warning.

My question now is knowing that I am a beginner is there something I should know about the JB4 beta programming and logs before I pull the trigger on it. I have no idea how maps work and what is required to run specific ones or even how to change it. Moral of the story is I don't want to blow my engine out of sheer ignorance

P.s. for the love of God please please please don't be those smart ass people that say " Google is a wonderful thing " or "have you ever heard of a search engine" I have and I've been searching long and hard for these concepts for almost a year with nothing concrete and if I am on the trail of something you know what the comment section is full of? "Search, search search!" Not knowing that the people who are searching are being led to people telling other people to search... So please be helpful ☺

I would definitely recommend getting the bluetooth module with it and a cheap phone to keep in the car, it will dramatically increase the ease of use. I have a JB4 which is what i would've recommended, not the stage 1 because of the flexibility and ability to upgrade and use other back end flashes. Most of the maps are set and forget so you don't really need to read or use logs unless you're into that sort of thing. I personally don't want to get into all of that so I just pick a map and leave it alone. Map 1 is great for a stock car, Map 2 for bolt ons (downpipes, intake, exhaust, maybe an intercooler). I personally run map 5 on my 535 with a K&N Cone and muffler deletes, and it auto-tunes the car for the safest boost pressures and it runs like a monster especially when it's cold out.

535 isn't a 550. Two different displacements, the settings that works for the 535 isn't the same for a 550 and vice versa.

Thanks for the advice im just more afraid of potentially harming my engine out of ignorance because i hear how fragile this engine is... What i want might sound like much but i just want to hit 500whp safely and i know it might sound like a catch 22 but i guess i want to hit that as safely as possible

Okay so i won't have any issue running the mix without the fuel wires just the TMAP & OBDII connectors and just chose a map from there and be set? Because im a bit too novice to start messing with wires.

yeah should be fine, wont pick up as much power as you would with wires connected but you will notice a gain in power.
