550i spark plug/Ignition coils
Hi, I recently changed my spark plugs to NGK and I am looking for ignition coils due to still having a rough idle. After having a really bad idle from a turbo leak we found that the coils need to be replaced but I am trying to figure out whether to go between Eldor or Delphi. FCPEuro shows that neither fit in the car but I have seen a few posts stating they still run it but want to see with everyone else. The Eldor coils part number is 12138657273 and the Delphi is 12138616153
Eldor - https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...or-12138657273 Delphi - https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...xoCjlYQAvD_BwE |

That's what I thought, I don't know how people are able to use them for the same car but not have any trouble. I don't want to go to Bosch since I don't like their products, and I want to try Eldor or Delphi due to the following around them.

Looks like the Eldor coils only work on the n63, not the n63tu which if your F10 is newer then 2012 you most likely have the newer n63tu engine. If Eldor doesn't make them for the n63tu engine (I couldn't confirm, all the part numbers were the same as the n63 so you may want to reach out to Eldor direct to confirm), genuine Delphi coils are a solid second choice. Beware there are counterfeit Delphi coils so buy from a reputable place like FCPeuro. Avoid Bosch coils that are made in slovenia, (there were production issues at that plant). They have supposedly been fixed now but if you get a batch from the original production at that plant, you will have misfires. Bosch coils made in Germany are good though.

I have found these, but I haven’t found anyone who has used them yet. They are on Amazon at a fairly good price, and based on what the Delphi website says, these fit the N63TU engines.

I run Eldor coils in my N63TU, zero issues with fitment, got them through FCP

Fcp cycles through Delphi and Bosch but I have not seen recently Eldor because of fit issues (some say great some say no go so it’s mixed).
Luck of the draw, I ended up with Delphi but if you need to replace later I think you can swap them at Fcp for a different brand because they credit you back what you spent. So trying a plug is not costly. |
