Week 35 production
I had delayed my order to be certain that my vehicle would be built in September and thus pick up the new ConnectedDrive features. I am slotted for a week 35 production. Can I relax, or is there any chance that I could see my car built without the new features? I assume that this is the first week back from the plant holidays.
Can anyone tell me? |

My M3 is week 36 production w/ a scheduled completion date of Sept 7th. I too wanted to be sure to get the new features in my car! Given that the factory is closed for most of August, I am pretty sure your week 35 will be completed in the first week of Sept and will have the new features.

My car too is scheduled for week 35 and my SA checked to make sure that I would get the "latest and greatest" stuff. I'm getting excited!

Very exciting indeed. Do you have an ETA for delivery? Mine is supposed to arrive at the dealer Oct 27 and be ready for me on Oct 29 (a Friday...sweet!) |

Interesting. I was told by my SA that my 550i will be "produced on 8/24", or the 36th week of production, but the official form he sent me said the 6VC (or whatever the combox is) was listed as "Blocked".
Not to rain on anyone's parade, but unless his date means mine will be "finished" on the 24th and not entering production on the 24th, wouldnt that mean 36th week and prior don't get the new goodies?

Hmm, So via calendar, I am week 34, but my SA said production weeks vary by plant, so for where my car is being produced, "they" consider it week 36. Now if that won't add confusion for those trying to figure out if they will or won't get the new features.

The dealer system will also state production month. As I said earlier, My info shows week 35, month 9. I also have a vehicle code of FR73 which coincides with a BMW Dealer Product Planning Bulletin outlining the various 5 series models and their modified configurations for September production. Lastly, I originally had a July build but specifically requested a Sept build, and I am part of my dealer's "September allocation". Are you in you dealer's August or September allocation?

For sure, you'll be happy. But with text to speech, does that not make you somewhat interested unmoving to a RIM device? These new features will require the new OS6 though.
All in all, having a build at or around week 35 is a bit confusing (will it or will it not get the new stuff). |

Plus as a semi-amateur photographer, having an 8MP Carl Zeiss lense on my phone is much preferred. The fact that it blows all my co-workers camera phones out of the water is just a small bonus.

Week Numbers
Hi All,
The bulitin for the UK we saw said Combox F11's get it by default, it says from start of production.. F10's get it from Week 35 2010. Post code search on Nav from week 35 There is a lot of confusion around week numbers vs date, surprising Dad's dealer didn't seam to have a clear idea either. If indeed the different factories all have different calanders, which I would find odd, then perhaps thats the reason. The dealer promised that they have spoken to BMW and confirmmed the build slot Dad has, includes the com box, apparently is week 36. Whatever that means! I don't'see why your CA / SA can't get the same comfirmation? This site timeanddate is good for week numbers you cna chose how the week number is calulated. Jan 1st is allways week 1 http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/...=1&holm=1&df=1 Week 35 Monday 23/08/2010 Week 36 Monday 30/08/2010 First Week with 4 days is week 1 http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/...=1&holm=1&df=1 Week 35 Monday 23/08/2010 Week 36 Monday 30/08/2010 First full week is week 1 http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/...=1&holm=1&df=1 Week 35 Monday 30/08/2010 Week 36 Monday 06/09/2010 Allways Monday First Day of the Week http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/...=1&holm=1&df=1 Week 35 Monday 30/08/2010 Week 36 Monday 06/09/2010 Hope this helps Cheers Paul |

I would like an answer as well
I am also slotted for Week 35 production, which as SoonExAudi points out is indeed the week of August 30th. This should be the first week back from summer shutdown for Dingolfing. It takes roughly a week to make a 5 series so all cars would technically be made in September by the time they come off the line. I am pretty sure that the combox will be included for week 35 on, but also want to make absolutely sure that it will be included. I am going to check with my dealer to see what they can find out.

Great, I'd appreciate you also checking on this. Also ask what the system says for production month (the info from my dealer said Production Month 9....which is September)

Sorry, I forgot to subscribe to the thread. Yes, he confirmed. And my order shows "Combox controller 6VC" which I assume is what we want.

My CA told me my car was slated for week 37. He then sent me an email yesterday that my car has gone into production. I can see it's moved under my BMWUSA account and when I called BMWNA it also said it was in production now. I originally ordered one on 6/26 in Dark Graphite but cancelled the order so that I could get one with the new equipment. My paper work now shows an item for Combox Controller "Blocked". I term "Blocked" is confusing the heck out of me. I wanted to be sure my car has the new ConnectedDrive equipment. So I'm really confused that my production date has started and has a completion date of Aug. 30th.

A completion date of August 30 appears to suggest that your vehicle is being produced on week 34. REALLY IMPORTANT is to ask the dealer to tell you what PRODUCTION MONTH the system reads. In my case, my order shows Week: 35, Production Month: 9 -- which is September. The dealer can tell you what week your car is in production. Don't accept it if it is not going to give you the car you wanted! |
