Arrow Official DEEP SEA BLUE F10 / F11 5-series Photo Thread

Seems these are the first photos of the Deep Sea Blue...

A bit too dark IMO, as I said in the other thread. It's a bit too similar to the Imperal Blue.
Hopefully in it will work much better on a sunny day

Looks like the earlier photos weren't just a lot like Imperial Blue, they are Imperial Blue. Any body disagree?

My pictures above were in the bright sun. Here are a couple in the shade. Maybe those first pictures were Imperial Blue. Tough to tell. My car is definitely DSB.

I have an E61 in Deep Sea Blue. In sunny weather it looks quite like in the pics above. On a cloudy day and at dusk the car looks dark and boring.

My F11 will be Imperial Blue for a change. I have seen the colour samples at the dealer and it is kind of in between carbon black and deep sea blue. Btw, the top pics in this threas is probably Imperial Blue and not Deep Sea Blue.

+1 I was thinking exactly the same thing. It's very dark, and unless viewed in direct sunlight, IB looks almost black.

I know most won't believe this but, after doing at lot of research into this color, I believe that all the photos are of DSB. I challange anyone to find any two DSB bimmers that phograph the same. From what I can tell, this colors is affected dramatically by changes in light. I love this color. That's why I ordered it for mine!

More Pics of Deep Sea Blue

Like I said in a previous post, every picture I have found looks like a different. This one looks as if it has a hint of purple in it. Still can't wait to get mine in July!

The color varies depending on what digital camera people are using. Some of the pictures have bright tone to them with over saturation while other cameras are terrible and have poor color contrast and brightness to them.

ibimmer, Can you take any more pics of your deep see blue in the shade or under cloudy day? I would love to see the full profile picture of the car too in the sun and cloudy day.

It's been cloudy and overcast in San Diego this week. So I'll take pictures with the same camera using the same color scheme setting in the overcast weather. That way it'll be consistent settings on the camera anyway. I think the pictures posted by stan don't really look right. I don't see any purple hint in DSB at all in real life.

Thanks ibimmer. I also don't see any purple hint to DSB online too.

OK, pics on an overcast day. Again, this is DSB/Cinnamon Brown/Dark Burl. As a bonus, I posted a comparison with an E92 335i M-Sport. I'm not sure if it's Montego Blue or Le Mans Blue. I think it's LMB. And also I found an E46 330 that I think is Mystic Blue. You'll notice that DSB is a little darker than either of them.

My eye is detecting a faint hint of purple. But believe me, there's no purple. I think Windows is just doing weird things with the colors. I opened the pics in GIMP on Windows and they looked the correct color. Under default Windows Preview, the colors had a lot more saturation in them or something.

Wow! Its still a stunning color! God, now its going to be hard for be to chose between this and Alpine White. The DSB is easy on the eyes and is very beautiful in the sunlight and nicely toned in the overcast. ITs easier to keep clean that white. White on the other hand stands out a bit and is sharp but hard to keep clean...

I am leaning towards DSB with oyster/black interior.

Thank you so much for helping out ibimmer. Enjoy that beautiful car of yours.

There is something very odd going on in some of the photos above.

The darker colour reflected in the top photo, is what I have seen time and time again for deep sea blue at my local dealer, who has plenty of examples of the colour on other models (X5's and Z4's mostly - my F10 in it is on it's way!)

But the lighter coloured photos - I just cant believe they are the same colour. I've tried again and again, but today, I went up to the dealer, as here in the UK, it was a really sunny and bright day - I took my iPad to show the photos to the dealer, and compare to the DSB we had. Their is just no way, save some kind of photo-issue, that this is the same colour - at the same time, theirs no offering on the catalogue for any kind of lighter blue!? The dealer suggested perhaps individual colour orders, but you guys are sure they are DSB's?

My problem is - if its the light colour, theirs no way I want DSB and I'd change my order (not too late but not got long) - I want that dark, but not so dark image at the top, It looks astounding, particuarly with the Oyster interior.

There is a build your own section and there are all the colors there for you to make up your mind online. The Deep sea blue is offered there too and it is the same color you see above. Deep sea blue will look bright in the sunlight and I am sure you have seen that unless its cloudy as usual in the UK. There is another section which shows imperial blue in this forum. Imperial Blue is the darker color and my opinion is too dull and does not show the car much. Its a dull and boring color compared to the DSB.

You probably already have it, and now know that DSB is fairly dark while being IMHO the most beautifully dynamic color offered.
I can dig the simple flair of the Alpine White, I love the elegance black offers when kept clean, and the Dark Graphite is hard to resist for an easier to keep clean and dynamically changing shade from the black... but DSB I feel offers the perfect middle-ground between these choices with the right combination of Sportiness and subtle elegance...
The really light blue pictures above must be the result of an inferior camera or blinding sunlight...

Oh, and after seeing my car for the first time today... DSB with Oyster/Black is undoubtebly a top 2 contender for combo of the year...
