The whole point of the coils is to increase the spark "power" to be able to continue to run the colder plugs AND increase the gap.

I was told for n55 one step colder plugs you should gap:

PR Coils
.025

b58 Coils
.028

I know this is an old post, but this right here finally got my car running how she should have been. I was gapping at .022 for the one step colder on B58 coils. Needless to say, stumbled across this post and replaced my spark plugs with new, correctly gapped plugs and W O W. Thank you for that BimmerHausPerformance
