Navigation thinks I'm in the ocean? How to calibrate location? 11 535i

Hey guys I'm new to this 2011 535i. I just bought this car and had it shipped up from TN. I went to display the navigation and I just get this plain blue screen. My old 2011 335Ds nav displayed fine but I'm not sure what to do with this one.. Any help would be appreciated.

UPDATE: I zoomed all the way out and it appears that my GPS thinks I am in the ocean just south of Cuba.. I live in Boston. Any way to update this?

Have you tried settling a destination?
Also looks like your zoom is scrolled all the way in.

It's the same screen regardless of zoom distance. Have not tried setting a destination but not sure if that would actually help as it doesnt display anything. But I can try it in the morning.

So when I went to set a destination i actually saw the map on the small screen on the right. Turns out my GPS thinks i am in the middle of the ocean below Cuba.. I live in Boston MA.. Does anyone know how to calibrate the GPS?

Set a short destination like work to home and it should reset itself.
Turn off split screen and NAV should move to the larger section.

There is another service menu to unlock on CIC:

https://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/forum...tails-t461081/

When that unlock is done there is another service menu, which may give you some insight into whether the GPS is actually working/locking on your location.

wcr3d I tried setting a destination and driving around for a bit it didn't seem to grasp where I was. Also, seemed like the arrow was pointing south when I was going north, east when going west..

Surly73 I'll give that a shot. Thanks

I was unable to access that menu using that cheat code you linked me to..

Is there a different pattern or am I just doing it wrong?

You caught that the pattern enables the menu, it doesn't enter the menu, right?

You still have to go back into the vehicle settings (I think) menu and there you'll find an additional option to go into the service functions.

It worked fine on my 4/2011 535xi.

I thought it was going to appear on the Main Menu screen. I didn't think to go to another screen to find it.

I will try again. Thanks

Ok so the cheat code did work. This is what the different menus are displaying. Also the Voice Test says "Navigation is not active". Anyone know what I should do from here?

I would suspect something has been done to this car.
Could be the GPS antennae, the connection or IDrive itself.
It's going to be tough tracing it down.
Without the GPS antennae the NAV is useless.
I would probably start at the antenna.

I would be inclined to

1/ do some googling [here's something that sounds a lot like you - second hit from google https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/...f=72&t=1565541 There's useful info in this thread too: https://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=613734

2/ look athttps://www.newtis.info and look for repair plans for GPS antenna problems

3/ pull the CIC unit and check connections at the unit.

The fact that you have no "receiver SW" is somewhat concerning. As someone said - modifications? Fitment of a replacement CIC because the original broke? Fouled up attempt at coding/firmware upgrading?

What Surly has said and some deductive reasoning I would be inclined to believe that this head unit (IDrive) had been replaced.
Had the antenna or connector gone bad you would still have the map database and receiver info, which you only have the database info.
My guess is all this problem is in the head unit.
Granted I'm no expert but I think what you need is a full reprogramming by some place that is capable.
