N63 Customer Care Package - Results Thread
Hey All,
I thought this would be a good place to share your experience/results after the Care Package. I drive a 2011 550i M Sport - Car has 26,000 miles and ran ok. Took the car to my dealer 2 times over the last 4 months noting an occasional rough idle/'lumpy' acceleration/hard cold start condition. I called as soon as I caught wind of this bulletin! Replaced items include: Injectors (all 8) Vacuum Pump Low Fuel Sensor with line Turbo Inlet Seals Crankcase Vent Hose (x2) Mass Air Flow Sensors (x2) Oil Change CBS Update Battery Car should be done tomorrow (has been there since 1/8) and I am itching to drive it . I will update further when I pickup the vehicle. Look forward to hearing everyone's results! Last edited by MrBusiness; 01-15-2015 at 11:47 AM.. Reason: Updates |

My wife's 2011 550i (42,000) is at the dealer now getting an oil leak fixed (new upper and lower oil pan gaskets). The SA says they are not ready to do any work on this program. They are a small dealer but I don't get it unless they just don't have the parts. The car has had injectors replaced and crankcase vent hoses replaced in the past. The car is running good so I can be patient. I think.

Hey All - Just picked my car up this afternoon (repair was exactly 1 week). Replaced parts include:
The wildcard is that during the re-program the system crashed. This resulted in a replacement of the Central Gateway Module (sounds expensive). Impressions: The car feels like a 550 should - power delivery is smooth and strong. With the radio down I can hear the turbos kick in with a healthy wooooosh! I am a happy camper! To top it all off - there was some BMW 'swag' on the passenger seat waiting for me Mighty fine job BMW.... Mighty fine |

Update: First weekend - had the opportunity to drive the car about 250 miles. The car is noticeably quicker on the highway. In 6th gear (I have a Manual Transmission) passing is now effortless and smooth as silk.... no more lumpy boost!
On a straight highway cruise - my MPG has went from 19/20 to 23/24 All in all I am a happy camper! I will update from time to time! Cheers! |

- Hard Cold Start.... Car would periodically turn over entirely too long and when it finally fired it ran rough for about 5 seconds - Random rough idle at stop lights... Sometimes I could see my gear shiftier shaking... other times it was smooth as glass - 'Lumpy' acceleration.... When the turbo kicked in (especially on highway) accelerating in 5th or 6th gear.... the boost was choppy at best (more noticeable in the comfort setting). I have been in and out of 22 cars in my short life and I am very in-tune (dare I say over-sensitive) with my vehicles. I bought this car 6 months ago and I was beginning to despise it because of the above issues (my last vehicle was an E60 M5 6-Speed that gave me no issues). Needless to say - my love affair has been resurrected! I hope the car is all set now! |

Mine went in Saturday, will edit when i pick it up in a couple days...
Dealer gave me a almost new (1200mls) '15 535i loaner. Edit #1: Took my car in for the care package, along with a couple other minor issues. They replaced the starter for me, and did an evaluation on the vehicle for the care package as well. They informed me my car was ready for pick up and that I would need to return in a few weeks once the parts arrive. Somewhat inconvenient, as I need to clear my schedule for a few hours at a time to make it over to the dealer, but nothing that can't be taken care of.

Went to pick mine up today. Laundry list of items done to the car but they still didn't fix the creaking doors.
They also curbed one my new wheels and gouged one of my new Michelin pilot super sport tires. They also ran it through the automatic car wash against my instructions and now I have swirls all over the paint that now have to be polished out. There replacing the wheel and tire and I'm hoping to get reimbursed for a paint correction as well. 3 weeks in the shop and these are insult to injury. |

I'm not going to say publicly just yet. I should have my car tomorrow and if they don't make this right I'll post it.
As a detailing enthusiast this was my worst nightmare come true. Couldn't be more heart broken when I saw my rim me all those swirls. |

Mine is still in the shop... took it in 1/12. Been driving a '14 328i since. It's not a bad car. I've never spent hours in a 3 Srs before and the driving/handling is so much quicker and sharper. I see what people are on about with these. Obviously the power isn't even close, but, this is still a quick car. I miss mine like crazy but this hasn't been bad. I'd have preferred a 335i but this was the only one in their fleet they even had left.

Picked up my '11 550i from Germain BMW Naples, FL.
Took them 6 days to complete the package. (2) 13-62-8-645-877 Hot-Film Air Mas Meter: 136032 (2) 13-71-8-646-450 Gasket: 138520 (2) 17-51-7-585-577 Clamp: 179500 (1) 11-15-8-645-237 Connecting Line: 111060 (1) 11-15-8-645-238 Vent Pipe: 111066 (1) 11-15-8-645-239 Connecting Line: 111060 (1) 11-15-8-645-240 Vent Pipe: 111066 (1) 11-66-8-649-747 Vacuum Pump: 117012 (8) 13-53-8-648-937 Injector: 135030 (1) 13-53-8-649-966 Fuel Feed Line: 135040 (8) 13-53-8-651-060 Decoupling Element: 1350995 Changed oil, set filter element. Timing chain checked. Updated software, programmed and encoded (GODDAMNIT!!!). Checked fluids and tire pressures. Complimentary hand wash and vacuum. X1 loaner, no gift. I've checked with my friend who coded my car before, and he says that anything has been updated since December, he can't code, because he doesn't have the updated files yet. He also says that BMW started to encrypt a lot of things, so it's getting harder to code. Can someone confirm this? |

Just got mine back today and they had me slumming it in a 528i all week long...boy am I glad to get back to my v8 with DHP. The steering and handling in a non msport or DHP is such a huge difference...like driving some blah rental car.
Anyway, they didn't have all the parts and its going to take a week or two to get them so they didn't actually do any of the repairs, but they said they would replace everything but the injectors. (since my injectors were already the latest) All in all I think this is a positive...BMW is replacing all potentially troubling components with brand new components. Any sentiment about the n63 being a busted engine is incorrect. |
