Question Tyre Recommendations

So I am in the process of acquiring some new alloys, specs are as follow:

8.5J x 20 ET35
10J x 20 ET38

Any recommendation on tyre sizes and whether I should ditch the run flats would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I contacted the garage today and they were the sizes. Looking for 275 on the rear and given they are low profile, they should hopefully be more forgiving in run flats as well.

Thanks again for taking the time out to respond.

Are you get Run-Flats or is that a typo? I bet 275/30/20 Run-Flats won't be much forgiving.

Hi guys. Been forced to change plans. Long story short, the seller of the freshly refurbished 20" alloys has gone MIA!! Luckily I remained patient and did not buy the tyres beforehand although I did have my local garage hot on the search for some rubber to match.

I have since purchased a set of 21s

Over the last week I have spent a respectable amount of time searching for tyres and reading reviews etc to make my purchase as functional and cost effective as possible. I do have a few questions though. If someone could shed some light on the below that would be appreciated!!

1. Looking at 255/30/21 on the front and 295/25/21 on the rear. Seems ideal according to other F10 owners. Could I possibly run 255/30/21 F and 265/30/21 as an alternative?

2. Is there a major ride difference between 20" and 21"?

3. Wheel Specs: 9J x 21 ET20. Do I need spacers? Rubbing issues?

Again any help is much appreciated! Thanks as always!

Someone posted the diameter of a 20" & 21" wheel and they're pretty close. I'll be ordering my 21's and will be running the same size tires 255 frt 295 rear. Difference between 20's & 21's is the sidewall. More forgiving on 20's but not So much on 21's. I've read numerous threads about ride quality and consensus says it's the same. What wheels did u or planning on getting? I'm going AG M510's matte antique bronze!

I'm coming up with 27" diameter on the front and 26.8 on the rear for those 21s. I'm running 27.1 fr and 27 rr on mine no issues, no drop. Rims are 20x9 fr and 20x10rr with a 35 offset. 255/35/20 and 295/30/20. This pic will give you an idea of how flush with the fender you will be depending on your offset. You're looking at 3 1/2" of tire sidewall on mine and yours will be 3". Watch dem potholes. Post some pics when you get set up. Zoom in on the back tire, 295s are beastly on the f10. Oh, and the 265/30/21 are 27.3 diameter. Smartphone tire size calculater. Google... Making people smarter. Get the 295s you won't like a 265 rear.

If you got four 9x21 ET20 wheels, do 255/30/21 on all four, and there's certainly no need for spacers with ET20.

Thanks for the response and yes from what I have found/read, it seems there is hardly any difference between 20" and 21".. hence the decision. I think once you go 19" and above it's pretty much to a certain degree, all the same in terms of ride/handling and feedback. I was mainly looking for 20s as I didn't want to rock up in a rim, rather than a car But plenty of google searches later led me to the pulling the

Thanks for the info... is it me or is that rear protruding slightly?

Recommended wheel width for 295/25/21 is 10" to 11".

No....you'll have 255 front on 9" wheel. 295 on a 9" wheel won't work.

I didn't realise that, but I am sure you know what you are looking at better than I do. Either way they look amazing!! I think these are very popular state side.. I haven't personally seen these in the UK, although I am sure somebody is probably rocking them as we speak.

It isn't so much of a big secret, more trying to save myself from disappointment. Nonetheless, just for you buddy... see below:

Dude...that's going to look BOSS!

Is the lip and rivets going to be a different finish than the face itself?

Thanks dude... I sincerely hope so, as I promised the better half I would leave the mods alone on the next ride... needless to say, I have already failed on that end (numerous times)

The wheels should be as pictured and to be honest, I am happy as they are. Maybe if push comes to shove and they need a refurb later, then a colour change would be on the agenda... but given the wheels have not even landed yet... let's not get carried away now

Thanks again and watch this space for an update (albeit I am a bit concerned about the 295/25 tyres I have purchased as the rims are all 9J and as pointed out, they should be 10J or 11J for the right look.
