What lowering springs and how low should I go?

Hi,

I own a 2012 BMW 550I x Drive, and I was looking at getting some lowering springs. How low should I go, what are some good brands? Drop some pics below with wheel size and how low your lowering springs are so I can get a good idea of what my car would look like.

You will get many opinions on how low you should go. Whatever you do, you'll probably end up changing your driving style over speed bumps, driveway entries, etc.

I like the AC Schnitzer springs on my 535xi. Given where I drive, I would not want to go any lower, but the handling is definitely better.

I had H&R Sport springs on my old 535i xdrive. I'd recommend them if you're not looking to spend some $$$ on KW

The Dinan springs are great if you're looking for a conservative drop yet modest improvement in handling. I ended up switching over to KWs because no matter if ACs, H&R, Eibachs, Dinan's or whatever lowering springs, they're good if you're looking to drop, but none will improve the ride that much. The KWs finally made my 550i feel like a German performance car.

Speaking of which, I have set of used Dinans for sale shortly if you're interested.
