535i exhaust drone (video)

I took a quick video of what the inside of my car sounds like with the magnaflow custom catback. The sound is pretty accurate. Drone is noticeable at 1500-2500 rpms.

i took the resonator out too and the drone got worse, but i don't mind it that much. Im thinking about adding a down pipe, in that case I'm sure ill need to put the resonator back on.

I lost my stock resonator, I am thinking about asking a shop to put in a aftermarket Magnaflow resonator. Will that help?? I am worry about 2 things.

1. still drones, since it is not the stock one
2. Completely reduce the deep/sporty exhaust tone.

Any expert in Exhaust or Magnaflow system, please help answering the 2 questions. Thank you in advance.

Man; I have this same conundrum right now. My car is at the shop as I speak and I just received a call about whether or not to take out the resonator. I'm putting on M6 mufflers with dimisa tips. I'm just worried about the drone and whether it will drive my wife and kids crazy without the resonator. ARGH!!!!

Are you doing it at VICTOR muffler? If you are, they will let you test it and modify it at no additional charge. My friend and I had the custom muffler done there. I wasn't satisfied with the sound, so I took it back and he did a bridge for me at no charge. My friend had his reinstall and adjusted at no charge.

I think if you tell him to take it out 1st and say you want to try it out. I am pretty sure he will put it back in if you are not satisfied.

well, you will need to actually drive it on the freeway to know if it drones or not. The RPM needs to stay between 17 to 22 KRPM. Mine sounds awesome while driving on local streets. So did they take out the resonator? how much did they charge?

Left the resonator. Having other bodywork done so I haven't driven it yet. Pics are on the thread I started regarding quad tips and stock exhaust.

This portion of the bill is like $400...
