Like Oldrandomguy did, I also took the kit out and played dumb. They just update/reprogram the computer. Problem fixed. I immediately reinstall the kit set it at 4.0 (was at 4.75 before). It has been 2 weeks. No problem so far.

SHOULD I BE WORRY??????
Without knowing what codes were thrown you will not know if the tune caused the issue. There are almost definitely "tuner codes" that can be tripped based on the car running outside normal operating parameters, but really no way to know if you have those without the proper scanner. These codes can be tripped without setting off a CEL as well.

You are definitely running a risk, given that you can't read or clear codes before you bring it in to BMW. How much of a risk is really impossible to tell. The question really is whether or not you're comfortable with that risk.

I've deleted codes using my Bav Tech tool when the Jb3 was tripping codes on me... I've got email traffic back and forth with Terry on them, and like I said, although Bav Tech doesn't support the N55, it does work...

Has anyone download the latest firmware version? I believe it's N55_31911, since I uploaded that I only threw codes on my X5 when I had a boost leak from when my hose slipped off my Custom FMIC...

I'm going to install the tune for Bimmerfest then take it off after. Fingers crossed.

Why is it taking so long to post what Terry's comments are on this issue? Suffice-it to say, this and the other thread have put a scare in anyone running the JB3... and mine is sitting in my garage ready to be installed.... so it would be nice if someone posted a resolution, etc ASAP.

Thanks.

I emailed Terry re: potential CEL issues and the JB3, this is what I received back:

JB3 - BMW F10 Application

To: Eddie xxxxxxxxx<xxxxxxxx@gmail.com>
Hi Eddie,

No reported issues with it. DME update does not apply to the Stage1
tuning / 5 series. If anyone requires technical support they are
welcome to email in. Any CEL has a cause and a solution and normally
isn't related to tuning.

Best,
T
I'd recommend those having issues to email Terry. He's very responsive.. My .02...

Hey BB2405

I see that you are selling your JB3 tune. Did you ever figure out the issue? Does it still happen? is that way you are selling? I don't want post this response on the classify and affect your sale. But, please let me know what you found out. I am a little worry with my JB3 as well.

Someone needs to just pick up the Bavarian technic scanner to see if it could read and clear codes on the F10. That tool is worth every penny to help diagnos any issues down the line before the dealer feeds you BS.

Terry has great customer service but don't believe everything these vendors tell you. I like to confirm myself if the tune is triggering any tuner codes that could void my warranty. Not just rely on some vendor.

I have the tool but won't have the F10 for another 2 months.

Are you located near Newport? Maybe I could have you read the codes on my f10 and see if there's anything there?

<--- located in NY.

Also with the BT Tool it locks onto your VIN so can only scan one car or multiple if you get the professional version.

Try posting in your local section of the regional forums - here and on e90post. A lot more users on e90 with the BT tool...

I emailed burger tuning and was advised to keep sensor #3 stock since it does not affect the tune. No code so far. Perhaps interference or something was in the line? Also, the CEL might be the diverter valve getting pinged from all the new boost. I specifically threw a code for that. peace

maf sensor misreading, something to do with an HFM sensor, and a "bov jam" that some how rectified itself magically. No codes right now and on day 4 with stock sensor plugged in on sensor #3 (top of engine little to the left on top of intake duct. easiest to reach) I have been driving it like its going out of style too. Getting some serious burble backfire with the magnaflow exhaust. pretty sick

So you are saying don't touch the 3rd plug and just leave the JB3 Cable 3rd plug hanging by itself?

good - any change in performance with the sensor unplugged? I imagine none since Terry says its not used anyways...

that's what I'm saying... no detection in performance difference between this and jb3 hooked in sensor 3 as far as I can tell.

I actually don't have any problem since I got my car back from the dealer a month ago (engine malfunction, and they updated the computer). But I think I will unplug the JB #3 plug and put the stock back in and see.

By the way, what boost setting do you have it on right now?

The New Version covers the F10... So no more questions on "does it?" Now only need them to officially support the E7x series...

This could mean they might be releasing the codes to Terry so we'll be able to have CANtool capabilities.

Alan, new update from BT website supports f10 scanning now. Came out about a week ago or so.
Our new shop car (f10 535i) should be here in about a week!
