Frozen paint & full front PPF questions
Hi guys,
First post here. Just got my 2024 m3 g80 in frozen PB. It already came with the front bumper, lights and hood PPF'd, as well as the rear fenders. So it's not an entire full body PPF. My question is, should I wash the portions of the car that are PPF'd differently than the portions of the car that are just the matte frozen paint (sides and rear bumper)? Or should I just wash the entire car as if it weren't PPF'd? Looking at getting a Dr. Beasely kit for washing the areas that are not PPF. Thanks! |

Don't know the answer, but the car is gorgeous! Love the look of frozen paint, but would hate to care about it I'd probably wrap it fully in ppf.

Basically got 10% off MSRP for this vehicle that had <4000 miles on it fully loaded. Was a no brainer, think I got super lucky. Edit: not to mention it already had the front PPF and tinting done on it too, would've costed me even more to do it to my new vehicle |

Due to take delivery of frozen grey G87 at the end of the month
For PPF front end is it Matte or Satin PPF that is used and blends well with the paintwork without PPF |

Just purchase Xpel’s Stealth PPF which many have posted will give you a great match to the frozen grey color.

Would recommend getting the full car PPFed if you care at all about the paint condition. Frozen paint is a pretty big pain in the ass to keep looking great and if you ever get any damage like a deep scratch you're pretty much repainting the panel to remedy the issue.

Do full PPF for your frozen. And then Dr Beasley Mattea Film Ceramic your full PPF.

Have a Frozen black xm label … front end PPF covered .
Myself would not live scared of worse case stuff and have that reason change the beautiful color of the frozen paint . To me save that money if you ever need to have the car repainted . To me PPf doesn’t look exactly the same as original frozen paint and all the different colors frozen paint gives in all different shades . It’s a beautiful paint don’t cover it up . Also only soap and water … chemicals change the color and look I used some chemicals mentioned here and hated what it did to my car I have my car back to how I picked it up and will not ever put any spray chemical or wax on the car my cars paint ever again . Good luck you have a beautiful car |

Our OP, infinitylol has acknowledged that he saved a fortune on his purchase as he received 10% off MSRP and also getting a fully loaded car that had carbon fiber exterior/bucket seats and front PPF at no additional cost. Touchup paint isn't sold for frozen colors so investing some money by putting Stealth PPF on the rest of this car and really protecting this stunning color in a no brainer! West side guy I don’t disagree with you at all . Funny thing how clear my PPF is when I picked up my frozen black xm label again love it … was on a Saturday and I more of a novice on PPF could not tell the coating was on my hood and front end and I pointed it out to my sales person where’s my PPF he couldn’t spot it either . Looked pretty silly the PPf was on the hood it blends no doubt . But I do see times where it looks a tad grey ish after washing or a rain in my eyes 95 % of the time impossible to tell the PPF is on my car .
I researched myself silly about how to protect my frozen paint reached out to paint people BMW many people on different sites I was surprised by the opinions and BMW always said soap and water . Water spots freaked me out at first they don’t now … soap and water handle them or worse bmw matte black cleaner but that’s a last resort . I saw what wax did to my paint color I tested product on my inside door first and still watched the best waxes change my color and was very disappointed in the products and in myself for not listening to BMW . The wax is completely off the car looks original and will stay that way . I don’t use a mitt I foam wash only and if I have to decrease my soap some and do it twice so be it I won’t wipe on my car if I don’t have to . That paint is to touchy I was not ready for how touchy the frozen black it was really kicking my ass at first . The frozen color changes colors on every light source and car angle it’s truly a special paint that hopefully I am finally learning how to manage I hope . |
