Help Me Out Guys
Hey guys,
So here's the story. My warranty on my GT will be running out this November, and I have a dilemma. There are two choices I can make. 1. Extend the warranty for one more year, and continue with modding my current project (and hopefully finally getting that custom M-kit lol) and sell it next year. 2. Sell the car by the end if the year and get a newer GT, this time looking for a darker grey like DGM and start a whole new project. Any thoughts? Which choice do you guys think would be best? Post away Thanks again everyone.

Sell the car and buy a new one before the car loses too much value. In the UK the GTs depreciations is shocking..

In Canada, if you are trading in a 3 year old 550GT, dealer will give you about 40% of the MSRP.
The more mods you put in, the dealer will not give you anything in return. Therefore, your car will have to be private sale. If you are thinking of another GT either now or later, I say do it now and cut your losses. |

DINAN_GT....
You are probably the best person to decide for yourself as you have such extensive mod experience! But if I were you, I would ask myself: 1) What is my main concern of keeping the current GT? Maintenance costs? Depreciation? Fuel economy? 2) Is there anything that I dislike about the current GT that I simply can't fix and live with? 3) Am I switching cars just so that I can start modding all over from the beginning again? And those questions, are best answered by yourself..........

not sure but, if it was me,
I would uninstall all the mods then sell the car and keep the mods and install it into the new F10~

If you like the car and nothing has been wrong with it. I would keep it since the Dinan tune can't be transferred over. You'll probably take a big hit on it.
Or, just sell it now and see how much you can get. |

Hello Dinan_GT,
I think it is a waste of money if you are getting the same GT or even the LCI GT. The driving experience will just slightly change due to the newer version of N63. IMHO your current car has enough power especially you have DINAN set up. Maybe it's time for another model? X6m? LOL Anyway a car will always be a car. It depreciates anyway.. You lose money here, and another loss for the new GT if you traded in. If you love the car, you live with it, and enjoy it as much as you can. So touched with this guy, who appreciate his first M5 Once again, it is up to you to decide what to do.. CHEERS |

Dinan GT...doubt that you'll get much $$ on your Dinan upgrade even from the dealer who installed them. A private sale will likely have more luck...also since you do have a GT that may also affect your re-sale/trade attempts. From what I've talked to you are amongst the minority on the 550 GT amongst 2/3 dealers I have spoken to...who are having major issues moving them. While they applaud the 4 door coupe look in other models (CLS & A7) the 5 series didn't get the others did.
If it were me? I'd not worry as much about owning the car out of warranty as long as you put away something to cover major repairs and haven't dogged the car prior and you've covered major and minor maintenance you should be okay. The $$ you'll possibly spend on maintenance is well below what you'll likely shell out on a new BMW [especially if you step up past the F10 550 or into any of the M models - BMW has lost its mind as far as pricing goes to a degree!]. And don't forget the depreciation also from reselling mods [wont get full price for those either] and then re-modding the car - must build that cost back in to for any new vehicle you buy. Unless you just need to start a new project and have tons of cash. Invest in the extended warranty, maintain the vehicle, and drive it like you stole it!
