Question Suspension Upgrade

Hey guys first post here. I am trying to get new suspension for my 2012 550i xdrive I am looking at Bilstein B12s but I don't know how they fit on the car. FCP euro is a bit uncertain about which specific ones fit and which ones don't. I am open to other options around the 1k mark but I am not looking for lowering. I have plans to build it up with all terrain tires and a 30mm strut lift kit for a semi off-roader build but that is besides the point. Which aftermarket shocks will allow me to retain the drive mode selector function? How does the drive mode selector function even work (is it actual damper or roll bars) and why can't I actually feel the difference between comfort and sport? Thanks for reading and im looking forward to all yall's help

They do not make a B12 to fit the xDrives. The rears are the same for xDrive and non-xDrive, but the fronts are pretty different.

Non-xDrives have a normal fork:

xDrives have a wonky fork:

The weirdness of the fork is to clear the front axle. I would go for B4's or B6's if you're just looking for replacements rather than upgrades.

The drive mode selector has nothing to do with suspension if you do not have EDC.

OK i just looked up my vin and I do have EDC, which leads me to the next question because B4 and B6 are both listed as nonadjustable. But a lot of aftermarket shock also don't look adjustable. So I am looking for something that retains EDC. Not necessarily in the 1k range it can be a bit more as long as the price is fair if you know what I mean

If you have EDC, it's at the minimum the strut being affected by the DEC. If you have option 2VA or 229, you also have an active anti-roll bar.

Unfortunately, your only option for xDrive EDC's is pretty much OEM struts.
