Front bumper replacement extra work

Guys,

having to replace my front bumper cover after cracking it the other week. One repair shop wants .5 hr to reset the PDC sensors and .5 hrs to reset memory functions. At $160 hr, that's crazy. Did anyone on here have to reset anything electronic after replacing their front bumper? Thanks...

If it makes you any better, I just got quoted $2400 for replace & repaint the rear bumper. Someone tapped me at 30 mph and slightly damaged the bumper. .....

Yes, sensors will need to be added/ swapped and there is a specific "park sensor mount kit" that needs to be used that won't transfer over from your old bumper.

Not sure about reprogramming everything unless they are selling you brand new sensors, then the answer is most likely, yes.

That's a crock of shit.

The old sensors unclip from the brackets that are bonded to your old bumper, and will snap right into the same brackets affixed to the new bumper.

No programming or calibration is required for the PDC sensors or any memory functions.

That shop is simply quoting work that won't be performed and praying on your ignorance to line their pockets.

That is just, unreal. No way it costs that much to replace and repaint a bumper. I've been toying with the idea of having my front bumper re-sprayed due to rock chips and some scuffing where the previous owners rubbed parking curbs one too many times, but at this price, I think I'll let the next guy make that leap.

I agree with you 100%.

Since none of was my fault, I just took my car to the best BMW Certified shop and have them go at it. They are pretty much replacing everything.

A simple good respray should not cost that much at all.
