So this is me finally creating an account on a BMW forum. Not really sure why it took me so long, but I知 glad I知 finally here!

I recently bought a 2015 535i M-sport loaded with features I致e always wanted. So far I知 absolutely loving it! I知 not new to BMW, as I started with a 2006 325i, then went to a 2012 328i. Both of these were nothing special, but were reliable and comfortable. So my most recent purchase is quite the upgrade for me.

I知 not sure when I値l get to everything, but I have quite a list of mods planned for my f10. Hopefully everything from a tune and FBO options and an upgraded turbo to new wheels and interior trim. I致e already started my stereo upgrade from the Harmon Kardon system to MB Quart speakers and a JL sub. (I値l post details about that when I get it all 100% completed)

I知 very excited to finally be a participating member of a great forum instead of just an onlooker!

Nice, I have a similar car as yours. Which MB Quarts and JL speakers are you using? I am think about upgrading my sound as well.

Are these drop in or do they need some adapters?

I'm using the MB Quart QM200C set. They were 99% plug and play for me. It comes with the front door mid speakers, tweeters, crossovers, and under seat woofers. Pretty easy install if you can follow along with youtube videos. The only issue I had was that the harness for the underseat woofers needed a slight modification to the included plug in order to avoid splicing into anything. Very happy with them so far.

I am also currently running a JL 12W6v2 subwoofer in the trunk. I'm using an Audison Bit DMI and a JL TWK-88 to replace the stock Harmon Kardon processing.

As far as amps, I'm running a Pioneer GM-D9500F amp in 2 channel bridge mode for the under seat woofers and another Pioneer GM-D9500F amp in 4 channel mode for the front door speakers. Still unsure if I'll be hooking up the 2 unused amp outputs to the rear Harmon Kardon speakers, upgrading the rear speakers to MB Quart as well, or maybe just keeping the rears disconnected. The JL sub is currently running off a JL 1000/1v2 amp.

Still tweaking and testing things and tidying up my install. I'll post pics and more info once it's 100% complete.

Welcome, and nice car!!

looking forward to seeing pics...

So after changing out for the MBQUARTS and adding the sub/amp, was it a HUGE improvement over stock? (i'm sure bass response was more)

Also i know sound is subjective to ones ears...

So again just wanting to know your $.02

Thanks!

Thanks, where did you purchase the MB Quart? My search is coming up discontinued.
Apart from BAV stage 1, any other drop in available?

Really nice looking ride you got there and congrats on the new purchase! Please post pics of your upgrade audio. I would be very interested as well.

I have always been a bit OCD with sound quality. To me there was a very noticeable improvement over the stock HK system, but I don't know if I would say HUGE. Definitely clearer and more crisp sounding to my ears with the MB Quarts. And much more powerful and lower bass for sure with the addition of the sub.

I was able to find them new on eBay from a seller in Germany. There are also MB Quarts available for just the mid bass and tweeters, leaving out the under seat woofers if you only want to upgrade the door speakers. I believe there are also drop in replacements from Focal and Rockford Fosgate. From my research I found the MB Quarts seemed to be the best bang for my buck in my price range. But everyone has differing opinions on what is best.

also, Gladen's are also another good option to go with for the F10. it was between this and the Focals. I looked into the MB Quartz as I ran these back in the day before they sold to a US company. Hertz is another good option to go with.

Welcome to us both. This is my 4th 5 series and the most luxurious of the bunch, which was my intent. What I didn't expect was the "float and sway" ride experience even when dialed into sport mode. Buyers regret that I didn't get an MSport ran through my mind until I drove one again the following week. MSport package is just tighter etc than I wanted. So after some forum searching, I bought a set of AC Schnitzer springs and that has corrected the problem of my car driving like a comfortable Mercedes. When they wear out, the run flats are also gone. Loving this car., and will really enjoy following your mods.
