Help!! 2011 F10 535i SZL (Steering column switch module)

Hi,
I'm trying to replace SZL module on my 2011 F10 535i.
My original SZL module(failed one) has no auto high beam button but can I replace it with the module with auto high beam?
It looks identically same except auto high beam button.
I will ask indi shop to program after replace so, programing is not a big deal if it is compatible.
Please help.
Thanks in advance.

I haven't done anything remotely like this, but if you're looking for auto-highbeam functionality you'd need more than just the switch. There's also functionality in the module at the rearview mirror in order to "see" oncoming traffic.

If you're just looking to replace your failed module with one that happens to have auto-highbeam switch because you found it cheap, not sure - sorry. Maybe someone else will know for sure.

Thanks for your reply.
Yes, I just found cheaper used SZL module with auto high beam button.
I don't need auto high beam function.
I just wonder if I can use it on my car which has no auto high beam button.
Can anyone know compatibility between SZL module with auto high beam button and without it?

Did you ever find an answer to your question? I am in the exact same situation.

Have you looked up any of the wiring diagram/schematics for these two modules to see if the pin-out is the same? If it is possible to use a switch that is not configured like your car...I would verify that the pin-out and wiring harness will be able to send/receive the data to other control modules that it communicates with as well as over the correct communication bus.

If you aren't familiar with a BMW wiring diagram site...go to https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/ and type in the last 7 digits of your VIN...then either work your way through the site...or better yet, type in a key work or phrase in the search box to help narrow down the search.

Good luck.

EDIT: a quick search turns up that the steering column switch cluster is A92...so if you type that into the search box (after entering the last 7 digits of your VIN)...you should get multiple links to things that pertain to the module (location, pin out, function, wiring diagram, etc):

Thank for the info. I will check it out.

The pin out for both Steering Column Switch Clusters look identical. I'm going to purchase the one with the high beam assist and see if it works. I will update after.

I did it

My 2012 F10 came without auto hi-beam. My clock spring broke and the only SZL I could find on ebay did have the button for AHB. It worked without coding. No issues but did through a code when scanned that had no impact on functionality and no control messages.

I can confirm that tcabill is correct. I received the part today and installed. It was plug and play without any malfunctions or lights. I have not checked with ista+ for any codes. I will try and code to the vehicle with esys at a later date.
