Sequential repeaters
Installed the sequential, smoked repeater turn signals. Took longer than I expected; almost 2 hours. The thing that took the longest was removing the mirror caps. They just didn't want to come off. There is also a channel at the bottom of the light that clips into the lower mirror housing that can be a pain. They look pretty good, if I say so myself. I didn't do a DIY as they are already all over the interwebs. I forgot; my factory lights didn't have a plug so I had to cut the wires of the factory light and solder them to the new light (I also had to cut the plug off of those lights). I also had to wire the new light backwards (THANKS unspec!!) for it to work; black to brown and brown to black.
I can definitely recommend this mod! |

Just to clarify: there are plugs, they're just down in the mirror housing "tunnel". If you want to take the OEM plugs out for a "proper" swap, you'll have to take off the entire side view mirror. The plug is in that yellow part circled in yellow.
Not all repeaters will come wired backwards from the factory. It so happens the seller I got mine from (and the thus the one I sent ezaircon4jc) sent two backwards ones. Not sure how many are this way, if all of them are, or if I just got unlucky. An easy way to test them is to take out the tweeters, unplug the plug (there's two small black levers that need to be pressed down in order to release the plug) from the yellow gasket area, and just match up the holes with the wires. The plug is wired so that the center most 2 spots are wired, and the third is unoccupied. You'll need to match that orientation with the new plug. If it works in the normal orientation, great yours aren't backwards. If they don't, flip the plug. If it works now, it's backwards and you'll need to swap polarity of the wires using either cut-and-solder or butt plugs. You have to swap the wiring because you can't install the plug backwards in the little housing it goes due to the wiring in the aforementioned plug. It's a fun, cheap mod. The lights are brighter than stock, to the point where if it's dark out I can actually see the light from the seam between the cap and the side mirror housing while driving.

I have the M4 style caps so they're probably just not as tight as the OEM caps.

Ezaircon4jc and Unspec: 1. how do you remove either the screw or some sort retainer clip that is going in the hole on the pic below where arrows are pointing (I should have removed plastic wrap before taking a pic, but it should be clear). Or better question is, how do you remove the signal itself from the side mirror housing? 2. how do you remove the entire side mirror? I'd like to avoid cutting the wires if I don't really have to and I'd rathe use included plug |

Pop the mirror glass out, then remove the swivel motor (all either T20 or T 25 screws I believe). Remove all the screws holding the plastic housing on. I'd remember which came from where, since the ones that screw into plastic vs metal will have different threadings. After that, there's just a clip that holds the plastic housing off. Take the housing off, and the turn signal is just pressure mounted in.
To take the entire housing off, you need to take out the tweeter cover. Then, just follow the instructions here: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...les/1VnXUl0D6y Do NOT cut the wires until you have confirmed that they are indeed backwards.

Oh wow, same here. Left died first, and the right is already dying, only the last third still works.
Looks like the longevity of these blinkers is pretty suspect. But for 20 bucks, 2 years isn't bad I guess.

Yeah, $10 a year isn't too awfully bad. For me it's just the inconvenience of replacing the lights. Since I spliced the wires instead of taking off the mirror to replace the plug. It was easier for me, though I have a rather long lead now hiding behind the mirror
