Just Installed Android PX6 Display
Replaced my Android 7.1 PX3 with an Android 8.1 PX6 display. I simply reused the PX3 harness. In otherwords, I just unplugged all cables from my PX3 screen and plugged those cables into the PX6. I then crossed my fingers and turned on ACC power and the screen came to life. At first the BMW logo from my headunit (not the PX6 screen) flashed several times while my headunit booted up (HU_CICHB).
First Impressions: - The sound from the PX6 works without having to plug the audio cable into the armrest AUX-IN. This is good but I didn't think this was supposed to work because my PX3 required that audio cable for sound to go into the headunit. -The PX6 seems faster. No jerkiness like I would sometimes experience with Sygic on PX3. Speaking of Sygic, the license for Sygic that worked on the Android 7.1 PX3 was not compatible with the Android 8.1 PX6. Luckily I already had another license for my Galaxy S9 so I tried that license and it worked after the app allowed me to revoke the license from my phone (it said something about too many activations). -The Kilometers-Per-Hour symbol on the split screen of the iDrive side (my car originally came with 6.5 in display) is replaced by Miles-Per-Hour. However the fuel level is still in Litres. I'm okay with that though. -Much if the factory settings menu is in English (compared to my old PX3). There are still some non-English menu items but everything I need is in English. Pictures coming soon. |

Here are some pictures. I resized them so the upload would be quicker over my phone. Some pics might look pixelated.

Some more pictures. The first picture is obviously the BMW ID6 interface. The third picture from top is the Benz interface. The fourth picture from top is the Audi interface. There is a BMW EVO interface but I didn't take a picture of it.

Hi, where did you buy it and are you still happy with it ? I own a F11 with 2011 CIC with big screen and gps pro. But i mostly use waze to navigate. I'd love to use waze on the big screen.
I also saw this.. but I don't know if it will work without rear view camera.. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Afte....13339.90158.0 The pictures on that site are also wrong, but youtube video is correct... |

I used the aftermarket GPS antenna that came with the unit. My car didn't come originally with Nav and GPS.
I like the PX6 more than the PX3 because the PX6 is faster and comes with Android 8.1. It boots up in around 35 seconds for me. I don't have the Avin unit referenced above. The only issue I had was that the BMW logo from iDrive would flash on the screen several times at startup before it stopped flashing and booted normally. Today I pulled out the sdcard that I installed and kept only the usb stick. And so far the flashing has stopped. IMaybe the unit doesn't like my sdcard. I'm going watch for a few more days to see if the flashing logo is really gone. Last edited by _GW_; 01-15-2019 at 07:50 AM.. |

I just installed the Avin 8.1. I like the screen, a few bugs here and there and a few wires that I was not sure where they connected so I didn't use them. I have a 2012 with CIC and unfortunately I only have sound on the Android side with the Aux plugged in.
These are the wires I was not sure what to do with? |

Does the IDrive controller work with it as well? I'm so used to it its second nature to me and I'm not a fan of touch screens due to constant finger prints.

I continue to enjoy the flexibility of my PX6 screen. I recently installed the BM3 Wifi OBD Agent into the car, as well as the Bootmod3 app onto the PX6.
Now I can use the BM3 Dashboard feature to monitor engine performance. The PX6 boots so quickly that it's the first device to connect to the Bootmod3 wifi hotspot from my phone. After that the OBD Wifi Agent will connect about 45 seconds later. Here's a picture of my setup just after starting my car on a cold morning.

Hello everyone , yes, I had a similar problem, it was very annoying for me, so I decided to replace all the wiring, speakers, control units, put a new amplifier, and a head unit. Yes, I spent a lot but it was worth it.
