Is switching from Sport to Eco-Pro bad?
I normally drive in sport mode in my f10, and then once I hit the right speed I switch it to eco pro to let the rms drop under 1k and coast. And then I switch to comfort for maintaining the speed.
Is it bad to switch modes like this or is it good, I feel like by doing this it helps fuel consumption as well as getting to drive in sport. |

If you're looking for good gas mileage why did you get a BMW?? Driving in eco pro takes almost every bit of enjoyment out it! If you actually enjoy driving, put it in sport once in a while

I cruise at 80mph and at that speed, eco pro does not save any fuel for me. I tried to calculate by hand and it ended up the same as driving in comfort mode. I drive 150 miles each day so I would use eco pro to save fuel if it works at 80mph. For 75mph or less, it does save fuel. I have tried that and it saves about 15 miles for every 150 miles that I drive.

It is just my cruising preference. Work pays for my gas so I don’t really care about saving gas. If I want to save gas, I can get a diesel 5 series, hybrid or an electric car.

Doesn't harm the car and I don't recall there are any special instructions from BMW.
I remember my previous MB would want you to stop the car before switching between comfort and sport mode. Lol, as if I ever did that (or anyone else for that matter). I don't see those instructions with my wife's current MB - probably figured out that it was a stupid ask in the past.
