Off brand wheels
So I was looking for gun metal colored rims for my car and I came across these set that I immediately fell in love with. The problem is these are off brand wheels (most likely chinese manufactured) and I have no idea just how reliable they are. The price was nice but I'm wondering if I'm going to be buying replacement wheels in 3 months. So
1. Do you know anything about these rims (BM120) and who makes them and how reliable they are? 2. If you don't, do you know similar looking rims that are made by a well reputed manufacturer. I don't have a high budget but I may be persuaded to part with 2k or so for the right looking rims. BTW, these are ~$800. http://www.oemwheelsplus.com/index.p...heels-set.html |

Those are definitely Chinese cast wheels. I would look into Avant Garde or VMR. If you can find a nice used forged set like the one Lacster has for sale that would be the optimal, obviously more expensive, but way better quality and strength.

Yes but my real problem is that the AV wheels look nothing like these wheels. Do you know a reputed wheel maker that makes wheels with this style?

MELLOWYELLOW, that looks good but it's a little different from what I'm looking for.
So I found another set of wheels that I'm in love with now but I can't get them in the right finish anywhere. These are Avante Garde M510 and I assume the quality should be considerably better than the unnamed Chinese company. Problem is everywhere I look, they only have them in silver finish. This is what I'm looking for. ->http://www.nitrousgarage.com/images/...-911-997-2.jpg Any ideas? I also found Niche wheels (Targa - http://www.elementwheels.com/prodima...argablktnt.jpg) which look somewhat similar to the AVs in brushed metal or anthracite finish but I would much rather go with the AVs if I can find them in the right finish. Any thoughts? |

LACSTER, I just found out and I'm trying to get price quotes on the gun metal finish. I think I'm pretty sure these are what I want. They just look so clean!
I was just quoted right around 1500 by one shop. I'll look around to see if I can get a better deal then I'm pulling the trigger! BTW, what do you guys think of these wheels? I know they're low pressure cast wheels but do you think they're any worse than the M351 (Standard M Sport wheels) that my car came with (in terms of quality that is)? I'd suggest you check out this link, especially style 356. That's what I have on my ride - check out the image. Is this the color you're looking for?

I found these at http://www.getbmwparts.com
I am not affiliated with this site at all, but just the cheapest black style 356 wheels I could find. These might not be as dark as what you're looking for, more shiny than matte finish. Cost is $4,675 for tires and wheels "OEM BMW F10 5 Series Style 356 20'' Machine Polished Wheel/Tire Set OEM BMW F10 5 Series Style 356 20" Machine Polished Wheel/Tire Set. Set includes Dunlop SP Sport Maxx DSST ROF tires in 245/35R20 95Y fronts, 275/30R20 97Y rears, mounted and balanced with tpms monitors/sensors installed." |

Thanks 10xtnsurfr but I'm not really sure I am too crazy about this style. Not to mention I'm looking for matte gun metal, rather than machine polished.

If you pay for $800 dollar wheels, you are going to get $800 dollar wheels with the same effort put into the customer service, R&D, fit and finish. $2k will get you into the range of mid quality, but you won't find anything forged for that price. We have these bad boys in the shop that have been refinished, might be worth a look. |

Guys, I already ended up going with a set of Avant Garde M510 wheels in custom gun metal finish...probably middle of the road in quality but still better than the chinese brand, I hope.
