Lookoing for loaded 550i

I have been looking for a loaded 550i now for awhile. Many ads claim loaded, but that really never is the case. I want all the goodies with the possible exception of night vision. Cars with Active Cruise Control are far and few between, but is a must.

So, if anyone knows of such a car for sale, I would appreciate a link to the car. Looking for 2011-2013, less than 60k miles. Also, must be 100% factory with original wheels, etc.

My son wants to buy my 2004 545i and I am ready for an upgrade.

Thanks.

PS: Here is one I am seriously considering. Problem is the Individual paint...hard to repair, I imagine: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-5-Series...m=301974298759. Also, it is missing Parking Assist (probable easy to add), and a few other minor items.

Any specific reason you are looking for a pre-2013? Personally I would stay away from those, as they tend to be more problematic and spend more time in the shop than the road. My only advice would be to look for 2013+ ones. Even better if you go with 2014+ for LCI upgrades.

But finding one fully loaded is gonna be tough though I guess. Happy hunting

Deep sea blue was a normal optioned color, just was not available with msport package and would have to be special ordered on msport car. Should not be any issue repeating as the color was available for standard cars.

That makes more sense. The color code is 490 which is a generic code of an Individual color. But, if it is indeed a standard color on other cars, then yes, less of an issue. My assumption was that the seller assumed it was Deep Sea Blue when actually it is Tanzanite Blue Metallic. Either way, I love the color.

BTW, my search includes 2013. My budget does not allow 2014 and up.

I should add that I would consider a loaded 535i, but those are even harder to find. Either way, it will be my first turbo charged BMW.

According to a VIN search and BMW colours the Tanzanite is only on 2016 5s (I believe). The VIN decoder for the car you listed shows the paint is A76 which is Deep Sea Blue.
The car is nicely optioned and includes the rare Bang&Olufsen sound system.

What VIN decoder are you using. Bimmer.work lists the color as: Sonderlackierung - 490. It is my understanding that "490" equates to a "BMW Individual" special order color. But, you are most likely correct and this puts my mind at ease for future potential repairs. The car is bit over my budget (40k)...hopefully the buyer will come off the price a little.

The one linked in OP is definitely loaded. I was surprised that cruise control was harder to find than Bang&Olufsen and Adaptive drive. I ran a quick search and managed to locate a $45,981 2013 CPO with just over 16K miles and nearly fully loaded, including Surround View, LCW, and rare Park Assistant, but not 5DF.

If I was on a budget, I'd look for another car. Too many expensive engine problems with this car.

I love my 2012 550i.

If I needed a car that never needed a repair, I'd settle for an Accord. Had a lovely 2012 535i, but the 550i is something else entirely.

I did use Bimmer.work. The info below is a screen grab from the very bottom of the readout. The A76 is Deep Sea Blue and 'tiefseeblau-metallic' is the same but in German. As you noted, 490 is a generic number for any special order colour.

Individual
Steuerung Individual
Hinweisschild BMW Individual

0490 Sonderlackierung
Sonderlackierung "tiefseeblau-metallic", wie Schl. Nr. A76.

I hear you. I also understand that in 2014 MY the engine changed to N63TU which probably has fewer issues. But, I am no stranger to BMW's (currently own 5, three of which have V-8's, but none are turbo charged). I do ALL the wrenching on all 5 cars. The worst project so far was replacing the valve stem seals...took about 18 hours total (also changed the coolant transfer pipe).

Definitely wish I could find a 2014 in my budget. Might have to forego some of the options.

BTW, the budget is self imposed purchase only, not including maintenance...I know what to expect.

Current fleet:
1998 740iL (oldest son drives, to be replaced by 545i)
2002 330i (youngest son drives)
2004 545i (my current ride)
2007 328i (middle son drives)
2008 X5 4.8i (wife drives)
1971 Chevy C10 (unrestored survivor to use as a truck)
1952 Chevy 3100 (ground up restored by me, for fun).

I wouldnt worry about individual colors, its just a color code, a simple can of paint just like white and black. I have Deep Sea Blue Metallic and cost the same to paint as any other. Plus its better because they have to match it right, when you got white or silver, they grab whatever is on their shelves ...

as to a fully loaded 550i, Id spend some time looking at 14+, you wont regret it, i've started to see a few of them fairly loaded at around 40-45k with about 30k+ miles

Boom ! here you go, a tad up there, but has the new engine N63TU, more power, more reliable, looks pretty damn loaded, new iDrive (NBT) and has my favorite option ... LED headlights.

It was not in VIN check, but I see it too now in Ebay ad.
I would be worried about the pre-LCI engine as well, plus I like the LCI changes.
I think think car is out of OP's budget.

Yes, out of my budget. The blue car I originally posted about was sold and Ebay posting ended early. The search goes on...

PS: I see a lot of ads with black wheels. Where black wheels a factory option?

You should check out the Pricing and Ordering Guides. They show standard and added options.

M vehicles (F8x) and some 4 series have black wheel options. I have not seen 5 series with them from factory.

OP, I am in the same boat as you. There was a perfect one in 13' Mineral Gray 550 about 3 months ago that was at a local dealer for one day, then poof, gone. Had everything except night vision, it was also an X-Drive. I hope one surfaces again. But like many have said, aim for a late 13 or 14 to get the N63TU for better reliability if the premium is within your budget.

So, by late 13 do you mean a late 13 model year or early 14 model year? What is the change over date?
