Anyone using solid rear subframe bushes/mounts or inserts?

Hi all,
I'm looking for sollid rear subframe bushes/mounts for the F10 535i.
I've got solid aluminum ones on my m235i. -It made such a good difference to how that car handled. I consider it mandatory now for any new car I get.

However I can't find solid rear subframe bushes for the F10 5 series. -There's no M5 part to use, subframe is just bolted directly. Anyone know if solid mounts are avaialble for our series?
I've found inserts. If someone here has those, can they comment on how they've found them?

To anser my own question:
I looked more into the inserts. Looking at various writeups of them on other cars. They'll be good. The inserts, especially the metal ones, will eliminate the side ways flex that can make the rear end feel so vague and unconnected during cornering.

I believe they are talking about the subframe bushings. As mentioned above, the M5 doesn’t have these, as it’s directly bolted with no bushing at all, so no retrofit easily possible for this.

Some cars they made inserts for look similar to the diff inserts, just for the subframe bushings. Also similar to the engine mount inserts.

You will love it Gene. I just installed it yesterday and what I thought was just "harsh shifting" in Sport+... turned out to be the rear diff flopping about. So now even in S+ shifting the car is dead solid. Just clean pull through the shifts. No bucking about going on and off throttle either.

Agreed. But the alternative is OE or Urethane mount (~$75 shipped), then the special tool that you'll only use one time ($200???), and ability/ time to lower the diff so you can get the tool in place to press out the old/ press new one in.

In comparison, this took me about 15mins. All I did was backed up on to ramps, knocked loose the bolt and nut (both 21 or 22mm, forgot now), pushed in the insert, and put new bolt and nut in. Rolled off the ramps and all done!

After getting tired of the thumping around in hard shifts from the rear end, decided to pull the trigger.

Hopefully some grease will help with the install a little.

Installed. Inserting the insert was really easy. Slipped right in, didn't need to force it at all. Getting the actual two bolt holes lined up was a different story. I guess my car was too light or something, but even with the diff jacked all the way up I had to add extra weight to my car. Threw tons of random heavy shit into my car to weigh it down lol. Tried to tighten it down by the nut side but there was no space, so I did the bolt side. Nut torque is 175nm, so bolt you add 10%, so in this case 192.5nm.

My diff bushing was actually still fine, so hopefully this helps still.

Awesome Unspec! I've been enjoying mine ever since. All the slop that I had with my split bushing is gone

Drove from South NJ to NYC, so still a first impression. However, it definitely has made the shifts in sport+ "snappier". There's still obviously some lurching since power is being cut and shifts are never literally instant, but it has turned the large lurching into more of a snap. It feels more like a giant rubber band snap rather than being shoved. 1st to 2nd is still more violent than the other gears, but I think it's to be expected as that gear shift seems to be universally agreed to be the harshest one.

Overall, pretty happy with the insert. Only bit of feedback would be to maybe make it idiot proof and just have the bottom prong of the insert also be mirrored at the top, so that there's no true top/bottom. Or print a small arrow on the round part holding all the inserts that points up, giving a visual indicator that you inserted it correctly.

Yea, the adding weight thing was the hardest part. Add weight, check alignment, add weight, check alignment. Rather annoying. My suggestion is to make sure you have a full tank of gas, and then remove just the nut first. After that, start adding weight to the car until you can remove the bolt with just moderate force. That way, you know that when you remove the bolt, the two holes are already lined up and it'll be easier to install.
