F10 530d 2012 - MOT fail emissions - 0.5 allowed, car giving 1.75

So, as the title implies my car has failed the MOT on these crazy new emissions laws. BMW give 0.5 as the 'plate' value, which testers must now adhere to.

I tried a bottle of cataclean and a good run up motorway but barely made a difference. Dropped about 0.3.

Has anyone else had similar issues with post-2008 BMs?

I am about to replace the nnnggg DPF and air filter. Reckon I am on the right track?

Any advice appreciated guys, cheers

Are you saying that the emission law has changed since your car was built and your car cannot make the new standard and they failed you? That doesn't right to me.

However, if the standard for the 2012 was as you stated and the car cannot match it, then something must be wrong.

It's a British thing. The way I understand it, when they write new standards ALL vehicles must meet the new requirement, regardless of model year. They're getting that way here in The People's Republik of Kommiefornya. They are trying to drive (no pun intended) all older cars off the road. I could be wrong...
