Well Over the weekend I decided to go ahead and just build my own down pipe. I had ordered one from a forum member and according to VRSF website and last 7 of my vin entered my 2015 supposedly took a 3.5" downpipe according to them. Well after receiving the down pipe from the member I quickly learned that mine was a 4" and was told this was true by another friend from the forum cause my car is EWG. I uninstalled my stock cat and downpipe and realized that it wasn't going to work. So I put everything back together, which the whole job taking off and putting back on took me all of 1 hour.

So I sold that downpipe to another forum member and decided on building my own.

Cost me about $175 in material (All Stainless) and after we had the stock downpipe off it took us about 6 hours to build a jig, weld everything and re install the whole exhaust system. Which I don't feel is to bad.

I didn't get a pic of our jig but I have a pic of the finished downpipe. Im leaving work now so if the pics didn't post I will post them when I get home!

Here is some pictures of the quad exhaust. This part cost me 160.00 in parts and I got the diffusor for 180.00. Turned out really well I think, wifey thinks its a little loud but mostly on cold start ups.

Very nice job on the DP. Can you elaborate on the parts you bought for the quad exhaust ? Any more pics from underneath ?

I bought the tips off of Ebay 2.5" to quad 4" I believe. The tips on ebay were 80 for the pair. And the other 80 dollars was spent on stainless 2.5" tube. 2 pieces that had 45 degree bends and 2 pieces that had 90 degree bends. I don't have pictures of the underneath at the moment but I can take some pictures tomorrow.

I tig welded the tips and the small length of tube to the 2 longer pieces with the 45 degree bends and just mig welded those to the stock tubes on the car where I cut the mufflers off at. I really wanted to tig weld some v bands at that junction. Just ran out of time as I had plans. So I might go back and cut the 45s with the tips at the stock junction and weld 2 v band assemblies at that point.

Absolutely stunning! Solid welds. Outstanding job!

Any thoughts on welding on brackets?

Welding on brackets like the stock down pipe? Most aftermarket companies dont have the stock bracket as well and with the one mount that has a bracket bolted to the trans I felt that would be enough to help keep it solid. Also the v band Part I welded to my downpipe was slightly thicker than stock so the clamp really tightened up nicely.

I like to see people doing things like this on their own cars and not for their job. Welds are ok. On the weld olet (O2 bung) next time a little less heat as you have a bunch of undercut along the top.

Otherwise solid job man.

I appreciate the critique, yeah it got to hot on the 02 bungs but I was using 316 filler rod. wish I would of had 308 to use cause the bungs were mild steel to SS downpipe. But Im happy with how it came out over all and we made it under a tight time frame.

Damn, that's a beautiful looking weld job.

May I ask where you got the diffuser from?

Ahhh makes sense. I noticed a coloration difference, but thought it was SS to SS anyways. I want to see more custom DIY like this!

Where did you get the parts for it and did you just use the old DP as a template?

I literally made it out of 3 different SS exhaust tips lol Allied had only 10 ft lengths of SS and I only needed a foot and a half. I also needed a cone from 4" to 3" which they only had in regular aluminized exhaust tubes for that nothing stainless.

Yeah we made our jig out of my stock down pipe.

Hmm. Thanks for posting the link . I wonder if it exactly the same as the ECS one ?

How is the fitment on yours?

Looks like the same one, fitment was very tight. The mounting tabs that attach the diffusor to the under belly of the trunk where there are already machined tapped holes for the stock diffusor pan caused the diffusor to pull down and away from the bumpers stock upper location tabs. I ended up using black self tapping screws and counter sunk washers to make the diffusor push more into the bumper so the lines between the bumper and the diffusor looked more factory. Ive explained this to another member. I can take some pics and post them tomorrow.
