Advice on F10 M5 Exhaust on F10 535i
I got an M5 exhaust, which I plan to install onto my 535i. I know that the quad tips don't fit on a stock bumper, so I plan to get a M5 style rear bumper off ebay (https://goo.gl/k5oCmf). I've read on several posts that the ebay seller is reputable and delivers a quality product.
Anyway, this is for all my OC/LA members. I wanted to know which muffler shops would you recommend that I take my car in to install the M5 mufflers. Also, I've read some members wiring the vales to keep them open on the M5 mufflers. Is that for more for noise control? Are there any negative effects leaving the valves as is on my 535i? Thanks! |

I first installed my M5 mufflers with the vales closed but it was just too quiet. I then opened up my vales its so worth it. Yes, it is about noise control. Closed was just not loud enough of a change. There is no negative effects for mufflers or valves.

These M5/M6 mufflers for me has been one of my top mods I have done to my F10. I just let all four valves open and the sound is just great. I hope one day to add an AR catless dp (the one that includes a small resonator) to hear the turbo spool and add a more robust sound.

i think i replied to your other post but keep in mind that since you're getting the M5 style bumper and diffuser you'll probably need to have the muffler shop make some necessary adjustments to your exhaust since the openings on a M5 diffuser is more inward. if you actually get the M5 diffuser with openings of a normal 5 series than you should be fine. hopefully that makes sense to you.

I just picked up a set of brand new M5 Competition Package Mufflers. $800 bucks shipped was a little more than I wanted to spend but they are brand new take-offs so I figure what the hell, right?

Question Ickdeep & lsturbointeg - do you think the exhaustmeiser system would work well to control the M5 mufflers valves or should I just have the valves pinned open and not bother with the remote control?

I just left them open. When I install them first, they were closed. Then I opened one, still not loud enough and finally just opened both permanently. It made all the money I paid for worth it, if not its pretty close to stock mufflers.

Question - Can I easily install that after the new mufflers have been hung? I am assuming you can. If possible I would like to see what it is like keeping them closed/open 100% of the time before I spend time & money installing a remote controlled valve.

Thanks ey2001. I will definitely hit you up for a parts list if I they are too loud. Actually, about how much did it come to?
Also, can't you program them to work with the garage door buttons in the rear view mirror?
