15' 528i xDrive Performance Chip

New to this site! I recently purchased a 528i xDrive. I love it however am thinking about installing a Race Chip or something similar. Any opinions or recommendations? Will it hurt or improve gas mileage? A lot of them say approx. 20% mpg increase. It's my commuter vehicle but I would like to get a little more performance out of it without crushing the gas mileage. I am also open to any recommendations as far as air filter, cold air intake etc. Thanks in advance for any input!

Welcome! JB4 is great for the N20.

Surely enough blown up N20s say otherwise by now.

JB4 was OK for those desparate for power before flash tuning. We're well past that now. There are multiple flash tuning options now allowing the DME to actually know what's really going on, safe AFR, safe timing, correct torque reported to the transmission etc etc.

I'd start with carless downpipe and a tune.
